as plutonus says... it is entirely possible on TG. monitoring my parents booking last year their flight was F2A2O2 in the couple of days prior to departure... so they were willing to give up the last two seats on an a380 to an award booking!

I've found availablility for 2 on SYD-CDG on TG in F in April.
I've found the way to go is to look for availability on BKK-CDG first then book the SYD-CDG on the days when the flights to Paris show availability as it seems easier to find seats on SYD-BKK.

Not sure about the 3 seats in one booking though you may need to break it up.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

issue is the 3rd ticket is for my old man, he's not as adventurous and will want clear itinerary 6 months in advance lol so 2 weeks prior wont work :( the other issue is we're actually in two different ports so maybe i can snag MEL>CDG x2 & 1x BNE>CDG ... time will tell though - assuming availability on TG is 330 days out?

sorry... didn't appreciate it was 2014!!! then there should be little problem. TG will only display two seats at a time. usually the next two will be released almost immediately (until the total allocation is exhausted). my friends are a family of three... they fly first class to Europe all the time without issue (booking mother and child together, then by the time that is done they can book the third seat for dad).

Do they fly first class to Europe all the time on TG via LM redemption ?
If so do they pay full miles for the child ? I was told even a baby baby (under 2, sits on lap) requires full miles...
Perhaps you/they can shed some further light on this ?

Cheers

Wow....just on cue!!! Now how many pts should I buy?? I have 1 account, my mother (now) has 1 account and +1 has 1 account...could buy up to 3 lots of 150K...can the AUD PLEASE go up against the USD, PLEASE!!:p
Just bought 2 lots of 150K (me and +1)....it is costing about 10-15% more now cf when I last bought due to the less favourable AUD-USD exchange rate :( Have resisted the temptation to buy a 3rd lot of 150K for my mother's account as it is now costing nearly AUD$2500 per 150K pts:shock: (using the 28 degrees card to avoid / reduce Fx fees).

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

folks just a quick heads up, the aussie dollar will be 98c over night - ive just purchased 2x150,000 life miles at 90c so naturally as per my general luck, the dollar will skyrocket :D

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

A quick quesiton: I need to go to Europe on some key dates next year (some flexibility but basically a week either side). Lifemiles is showing Availability in J on SQ MEL-SIN and SIN-LHR (and a few other ports i could go via in Europe) but it is not showing any availability as a connecting itinerary? I can't book MEL-SIN-anywhere else. Does anyone know whether there is someway to forces this (via phone or web site) or get around this glitch?

Alternately, as plan B, would anyone advise on the quality of Thai J?

777.

I've seen the same but also can't force the connection - it's also very unlikely you could get it done on the phone. I can only assume it's by design as some of the connections it's not offering are as little as 2 hours at SIN.

For TG try and pick a route to Europe offering A380 or 77W service - this will get you full flat beds - current example routes FRA (TG920/1), BRU - you'd easily get a connection to LHR on the same ticket or CDG where you'd likely have to make your own way to London.

Which are the best routes out of Australia for Thai J? It's offering me a connection via FRA which i think is on the A380.

All much of a muchness really - no full flat beds...yet. BNE is scheduled to get 77W service from mid Feb '14 but with TG change of plans is very possible before then... I'm hoping they send it to MEL instead!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

is LAX-SYD via ICN good value in J for 67,500 pts (on OZ)? looks like it would be approx. USD$2,040 plus taxes with the current promo

That's surely up to you. Is a business class return transpacific for c. USD2200 good value...of course it is! But it's also substantially more than a paid for economy fare with a much more sensible routing ie non stop. In the buying miles for business class game everyone has different tolerance levels for this.

business class return for about aud2400... if it was on the non-stop united it would be a no brainer.

however if it was the reverse routing (SYD-LAX) and united wasn't available, then I'd start looking at alternatives such as air pacific. more direct route, same angled beds (at least for the syd-icn sector) and for around $300 more each way would be getting a bunch of miles and status credits under qantas.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

If one such as I just opened an account... Is there anyway to still take up the bonus offer?

2x1 Special offer bonus = 0 for me when I opt to purchase 75,000 :(

I do realise that I do not have much hope... but if anyone has had success with a work around, would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

You will need to wait until October I suspect, no workaround.
