Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Thanks. "Immediately" was the word I was looking for read: hoping for lol. Good idea with USDM.

The thing is I have seen availability for 3x J tickets ex-SIN to Europe on SQ so obviously it differs by route/destination and the airline probably decides this based on factors like seasonality and average load at that time of year, etc.
Yes but the problem is that that are only often released, not always.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Is there a limit on how many tickets you can buy at the one time ?
Trying to get 4x J tickets shows absolutely no availability SQ to DEL even on the weekly view.
But when I search for 2x J tickets there is plenty of availability ?
I suppose I have to hope that SQ will release more seats to *A once the two have been snapped up or just be prepared to split up the family ?

I know there's no guarantees in life except death taxes and QF enhancements lol but does anyone know usually how long it would roughly take for SQ to replace its award inventory once taken up ?

Cheers

I've found regular availability with UA and BR for 4 or 5 people ex SIN in J ...also saw seats for 4 J seats on SQ A380 SIN-ZRH about 11 months out just last week....OZ also has good availability in J for 4 or 5 people (although slightly hesistant flying with them after SFO landing)...most seats ex Australian ports i've only ever seen 2 seats in J....

If you're spending the rest of the trip together with the other 3, is there any real issue in splitting into pairs for the flights?

basic SQ award inventory rule? don't count on any more space being released once you take what you see.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I haven't fooled around with SQ and LM for a while now...but I had a look at the weekend and was pleased with what I saw...J class on SIN<>LHR etc. The issue I noticed was that, even with short connections, the website seems unable to offer it on a single ticket. I saw LHR-SIN-MEL one day (as separate segments), with either a 2 hour ish or a 5 hour ish connection at SIN - the website wouldn't offer either. I know the website can price out SQ-SQ itins...I have MEL-SIN-ICN soon...and I've seen MEL-SIN-SFO before. Anyone any experience in working around this...usual rule of not bookable on website not bookable at all applies? I could book the all SQ itin I've seen as 2 nested tickets for a 50k premium to the single booking price 225k vs 175k.

I noticed the same thing last night on SQ J to ZRH.
A few dates in Feb there was decent availability SIN-ZRH and on the same dates very good availability MEL-SIN. But when I search for MEL-ZRH I come up with nothing.

It is such a cough booking engine. In theory you should be able to sort this out over the phone and book it as one ticket, I have managed it once with a lot of pain.

The fact that it brings up random SQ A380 or 77W J availability already makes it better than USDM for SQ in my opinion.........

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Guys I just did a redemption and almost immediately received an email from LM with a reservation code.
Is that all there is ? And then I can use that reservation code for online-check in 24hrs before ?

Should I be expecting to receive an e-ticket from the airline or any further correspondence or documentation ?

The flights are with TG in Nov.

Thanks

Use that reservation number at checkmytrip.com to see if it is fully ticketed. No you won't receive anything else from lifemiles. You will have to call or email TG for seat assignments.

as with USDM bookings, it is always a good idea to call the airline directly and ask if they have a ticket number against the booking. sometimes airline FF departments don't communicate the ticket number in time and the operating airline will auto cancel the seats. everything will look fine (reservation and seat numbers) but you won't actually hold a ticketed seat (which means no fly).

when you call TG for seats, specifically ask if they have a ticket number. this is not so much of a problem with TG, but can be an issue for SQ and OZ.

you should also check airlineroute.net on a weekly basis to ensure your flights have not been rescheduled or cancelled.

Cheers for the advice

Is a ticket number something like
E-ticket xx_-xx_xx_xx_x (3 digits-10 digits) ?

I have that on one of my bookings but not the other one (we sorta booked an open jaw MEL-DEL then BKK-MEL).
Person on the phone over at Thai said that the way up was all good but on the way back it wasn't ticketed.
Might wait a day or so then call Avianca.

Somtimes its instant, sometimes it takes days, but if your not travelling for a while just chill and enjoy the island time service!

TG has an auto cancel on award seats after 72 hours if not ticketed.

so while you can wait, I wouldn't wait too long! (if the seats auto cancel then it won't matter if LM issues a ticket, it will be too late by then).

I would chase after 48 hours to be concise, I think a booking in Feb took exactly that time to ticket with TG.
