Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Seems like there have been some serious changes in availability for certain SQ routes at least out of MEL.
Was plentiful availability just like week in Dec/Jan to CGK and DPS before their maintenance update a few days ago.
Now I can hardly find anything. Even as far out as March the availability is scarce. Before you could even pick which flight you wanted out of MEL lol.

Has anyone else noticed serious changes in SQ J availability recently ?

We've had over a year to book certain SQ J flights that shouldn't have been available to us. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're FINALLY fixing this up!

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Hmmmm maybe the connection problem is now becoming more widespread ?
I used to have no issues with connections to other asian regional destinations on SQ in J.

But now just did a search for SIN leaving 26 sep returning 3 oct for 2 pax in J and coming up with plenty of options.
But MEL-DPS for the same dates also for 2 in J coming up as sold out for the whole week and even fully sold out in Y.
Hmmmm....

There is no availability SIN-DPS on SQ from 26/9 - 2/10...well in fact just one day with 2 Y seats. Not an LM issue.

How much do you pay for full membership ?
I could not for the life of me seem to be be able to decipher this page lol
KVS Availability Tool: Membership Levels & Contribution Options
So it is $45/month (year?) or $75/month (year?) or perhaps $45 initial once off fee then $75 a year ?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Actually, just checking a random date next year, all 4 flights per day are available in both directions:

Look - the LM site was offline for maintenance - it's compulsory then to come back with stories of how the sky is falling! It happens every time - OMG! the trick cities are gone! (shortly thereafter, oh, they're still there), OMG! the SQ is gone! Just play along - the drama is a feature of LM! ;)

True but doesn't exactly help me for the wedding in Jan lol.

Though more importantly; do you think what I've been seeing happen with flights that were previously available in jan/feb/march are now gone due to a natural filling of the seats ?

Easy tiger, I wasn't trying to cause drama at all just wanted to raise what I thought were valid concerns.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

I'm aware of several of the tricked routes US->Asia, Europe->Asia, OZ->Asia, and the Central Asia ones. Is there a tricked route for US->Europe or Europe->US? Since I'm a new member, I don't have access to the spreadsheet to check.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

12 months is not that new lol you're a veteran compared to me lol
I think he's refering to the fact he's been watching but not contributing (hence the 1 post). Leaving aside the fact that most will display reticence in sharing something with someone who doesnt share back, the thread in FT is probably a better source of such information as they are more likely to be making US to Europe trips on a regular basis. Of course not sure they'll be keen to share with a newby either.

I do have access to the spreadsheet, not sure if people searched and didn't find anything or if they didn't search because not markets Oz people may access much, but didn't any trick cities come up in South America, Caribbean or Africa???

Being a South American airline the general feeling is they are likely to know where South American cities are and less chance to misscode!

i thought the idea was these should NOT be openly published so as to not provide free feed for bloggers?

or is this another case of deliberate sabotage??

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Just got my latest LM statement (in Spanish) & although I haven't yet translated it via Google Chrome the numerical bit says I've accrued 50K & redeemed 50K.

What I did was buy 10K & received 20K & did a redemption using the minimum points required each plus approx USD290.00 pp.

Does LM work the same way as IHG Hotels where if you book a reward night stay of 15K points plus USD70.00, the cash component buys the extra 10K points, so you in fact have redeemed 25K in points?

So basically if the maximum points you can buy in a year is 150K, I thought I'd spent 20K leaving a potential 130K still possible to purchase however it looks like LM's perspective is that I can only buy another 100K?

Is a LM membership year based on the calendar year or on your date of joining?

Yes. If you look at your account activity on line you will see this clearly. Edit: actually not sure that's possible...I can't find anything historical. But it does show copay miles being bought immediately after a redemption.

However I can't be sure, but I don't think the buy limit is affected by the copay miles. I was allowed to buy 74+74 last time and I have made several copay redemptions this year.

Multiple personality maybe. This is after all the man who boasted he had a hotel chain amend their BRG rules due to him so wouldn't rule the latter out.
