re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

A friend of mine mentioned this thread about the 25 Brg's and closed account.

I think he/she didn't play by the rules because I have/had double that.

And from what people are telling me I need to contribute to the thread which I'm doing giving out information that can benefit over AFF Members or has that policy changed ?

providing the information on a public forum is quite different to providing the information by PM. the primary reason for restricting access is to prevent it being readily accessed by bloggers.

bloggers use the information solely for their financial gain, and have no interest in whether the miscode is closed down or not because of their actions.

Anyone got any advice on how to handle the "Sorry, There was problem while processing your transaction." error i keep getting?

Pretty much you'll have to try again later. Unless there is something obviously wrong with what you're trying to book. I can get LifeMiles to offer me NZ's non-existent F class for example...clicking though gets that error!

i kept getting this error everytime there were multiple connections, only way i managed to get around it was by doing one way and manually booking ie: costs more points... needless to say i gave up lol

i mostly got the message when selecting AKL & AirNZ

The whole system is just screwy. Personally I would prefer if they fixed the 'mistake' routes and just made it easier to piece connections together. The call centre can't do anything other than book exactly what the online system throws up. Even if there are multiple different connecting flights available in that class they will only allow the connections the computer throws out, so annoying.

I shudder to think how bad the airline is if this is their award booking program....

Unfortunately this is a common, and frustrating, problem. You will find plenty of references to others that have faced the same issue. It looks as though you have found a bookable flight but then, at the final hurdle, you get that message.
It's really telling you that it wasn't bookable after all, at least, not through LM. You can try changing your original search criteria by, for example, specifying a particular airline but I can't say that I've ever been able to get around it that way. It's also been suggested that you try using the site in Spanish but, again, I've never had any luck.

It seems to come down to connecting flights with, perhaps, a flight arriving one day and the next flight leaving the following day. LM doesn't seem to be able to handle that, at least, not always.

The only way around it is to break the journey up into different segments but then you are paying far more points and twice the fee.

Don't waste your time trying to contact LM either as they only see what you can see.

wish there's a wiki section to summarize all the valuable contents mentioned in the thread..

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

One possible complication is if the transit country does some sort of advance passenger information screening. E.g. if the country you're dropping out at does not expect you to clear immigration there. Dropping out at international-to-domestic connection points should not be a problem though.

is there a list of such countries available? a quick google search doesn't result in anything..

Only an infrequent lurker here (normal home over at FT). As a matter of interest, is the list mostly Y opportunities?
Any J routes originating in SE-Asia to US/EU? Not asking for tricked city codes, just whether or not such things even exist.

Shame about the bloggers jumping on the gummy bear today.

while I'm at it, I have to say the antics of Shanye2233 have provided endless entertainment (here and at FT) over the past 18mths :)
