re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Ok tried this. Tried to email screenshots and told for changes I have to call the call centre. Called call centre who say they can't do screenshots, which i kind of expected. Customer service via email insist they can't do or forward my request to the manual booking dept that does the screenshot bookings. Anyone got any ideas?

Not looking good then :(

Maybe screenshots is not available for changes, only the original booking? This is just a date change? Change of route is not permitted.

Yeah just date change. Needed to screenshot the change but now stuck about how to change it. Used to be easy when cancellation fee was 50bucks we would just cancel and rebook, not that easy now.. I might try to email screenshots as a new booking and tell them its a change when they call me. Will report how that pans out

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

When did you book the flights - the older flights will still have the $50 cancellation fee

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Gday

Just arrived home from an all J KUL-BKK-ICN-SYD TG-OZ-OZ redemption and would like to share:

- shortest leg was the first one on a 777-300 with full flat beds which was great but service was pretty average. No land of smiles for me. J only half full at most. At BKK airport the frowns continued in the TG J lounge which was packed. Dont bother going there. Head straight to the EVA air J lounge further along. Much smaller but virtually empty and much newer with all the modern conveniences.

- BKK to ICN was on an old A330 sloping sleeper. Really tough to sleep on as it was a redeye but service was great. J was full. ICN Asiana business lounge is solid. Fast wifi, great showers that no one seemed to use and Cass beer on tap.

- final 10 hour leg was on the OZ 777-200 which i was led to believe was a sloping sleeper too however to my great surprise it was the Business smartium flatbed product. Great food, service and seat. Would definitely go again on this plane. Again J was packed. There is generally good availability on Lifemiles for the ICN- SYD route so if you can bag a ticket before the devaluation, go for it! Highly recommended by me.

Pele.

no good with trying to get date change via email for screenshot bookings. CS team say the manual booking dept can only do screenshots for new bookings and not changes. call centre can't process screen shots so i've given up. will have to cancel and rebook if date change for screenshot bookings required. if anyone else has any success stories about how to do this please let me know.

I assumed just calling doesn't get the agents to see the flights you want? Feed them over the phone the flight numbers you found via screenshot.
By the way, did you book before the fee changes? You can confirm by reading your eticket.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I recently made a J redemption and then checked it on TG and it was all good. Except for one thing, my partners title has ended up as her middle name yet my title is where it should be. Should I be worried? Should I call TG?

Nothing to worry about: My +1 has had "Surnamems Firstname" and flown without a problem

Depends on the airline you wish to book - LM will book out to 355 if the airline in question also supports this far out. You need to check each *A airline to determine their booking window - usually it's 334 (e.g. UA, TG) or 355 (e.g. AC, LH, LX) etc etc

Same thing happened with my partner on TG. We flew with no issues whatsoever in January.

Well, I’ve been TG’ed!

Booked my parents FRA-BKK-SYD TG Fwith Lifemiles leaving in a months time. Parents think they are flying TG J, was going to surprisethem on the day of departure. At the time FRA-BKK was showing as A380 Daily asit usually is (I thought FRA was a pretty safe route!). Did seat selection etclater, still showing A380.

Check booking thismorning, that flight is changed to 2 class 77W. Schedule updated as 777 forentire month. Fortunately EF is showing it’s the refurbed 1-2-1 fully-flatseating. No F availability from anywhere else in Europe on that day (is it onlyLHR, CDG and MUC they offer it from now?) and don’t want to change the datesbecause I know my parents wont wont to get stuffed around.

My questions:
1. Does TG usually open up last minute F award seatsex-Europe?
2. If so, will LMs charge me a change fee for aninvoluntary downgrade?
3. If not, what are the chances of some sort ofpartial refund of miles? Don’t wish to change BKK-SYD flight to J.

Unfortunately the TG FRA changes were announced back in late January: THAI S17 Europe service changes as of 26JAN17 :: Routesonline

TG does open up last minute F availability, I've seen F2O2 on the day before departure.

Dunno about the change fee but you'd have a good case for it being waived if the ticket class was no longer available. All the references in the terms and conditions are for voluntary changes. This would be an involuntary one.

Chances of refund? Unlikely. LM charges the highest price for any sector on mixed class bookings.

What date are you looking for TG F from Europe?

Thanks MEL – appreciate your prompt advice. Both the LHR and CDGA380 flights that day are showing F7,O0 on EF which gives me a reasonablechance of at least 2 seats being opened last minute I would think. Even the 747from MUC (showing new F) is F3.

If they do open up, what’s the easiest way to change the flights?Email explaining everything and then call to ticket hoping they waive changefee? If they don’t open up I’ll keep them on the same flights (J to BKK then Fto SYD) and just say I managed to get them an upgrade for the last flight oftheir trip. The BKK ground experience will be the same either way.

I’ve done TG 747, 772, 773, A330 and A380 J and 747 new and old F.For my parents who have done none of these, is the A380 F experience ex-EUdramatically better than the 77W J? Would you change your travel plans for it?

Some people play the pokies, some try their luck at the track, Ibook TG award seats hahaha!

I was actually going to come back and make a comment about the 77W... service levels have dramatically improved with the introduction of their new meal service in long haul business... no more meal trays, everything is set directly on the table. Silver bowls for your bread selection. And an extensive choice of mix and match courses. Pretty impressive (although the taste can be a bit bland). There's also new long-stemmed champagne flutes.

Personally i don't rate the TG A80 all *that* highly. It's ok, but I like the 747 better. of course F is F, but 77W (same seats as the A80 in business class) along with the new service levels and it's not that far off. You'll miss the PJs and Rimova amenity kit, but as you say the ground service once reaching BKK is the same.

As for lounges, TG F dun get access to the LH F lounges anyway... but there will be a 'downgrade' from the Senator Lounge to the regular business lounge. In FRA there isn't that much of a difference anymore now that they've upgraded the business lounges (they used to be the very poor cousin of the senator lounge).

If F does open up it will mean an extra connection, dunno how LM will handle that. Email? I'd probably just call them at first instance. And then hope if they can make the change that they don't lose the BKK-SYD seats in the process :(
