Just wondering if this is normal:

1st statement - Points earned but none posted (Aug)
2nd statement - Points earned but none posted (Sept)
Last Sat - Received points from last 2 statements but no bonus
3rd statement - ???

Yes, perfectly normal.

Standard points don't credit until after 60 days of holding the card. Bonus points 'within 5 months'. Most of us who applied in June have only just received the bonus points last week.

I am in the same boat as well...
that's a long wait to receive the points...

Does it say anywhere in the T&Cs about the 5 months wait ? I thought it would be 3 months.

"Bonus Qantas Points will be transferred to your account within five months of account opening. "

Does anyone know if the $6k spend is actually required in three calendar months from approval/activation or three billing cycles? Sorry, I couldn't seem to find a definite answer and my first billing cycle only ran for a few days so I'm a bit cautious.

Three months, I don’t have the exact wording to hand, but it’s Defo not just three billing cycles.

Yeah I'm pretty sure its from Approval/activation date, not the date you get the card, (because you can get a digital card and use it bfore you get the physical one) or the date the cycle starts, but the date you are approved.

Amazing, thanks for letting me know - that's good to know! :)
No worries! Dug out the wording of the offer I saved, definitely three months from opening. Opening is usually the date the application is approved:

"* The 90,000 Bonus Qantas Points promotion is only available to new Bankwest Qantas Mastercard customers who apply for a Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard credit card from 27 May 2019 until 31 August 2019, are approved and spend at least $6,000 on eligible purchases within three months from account opening."

I'm not sure if this should be split off into a separate post, but for those considering this card, the complimentary travel insurance is being stuffed from 9 Dec. Key changes are the loss of the following sections unless a paid "upgrade" is added.

Special eventUpgrade only
Rental vehicle insurance excessUpgrade only
Domestic pets boardingUpgrade only
Travel services provider insolvencyUpgrade only
Resumption of journeyUpgrade only
Loss of incomeUpgrade only
Alternative transport expensesUpgrade only
Travel documents, cards, travellers cheques and cashUpgrade only
There is currently no way (that I could find) to obtain the cost of these "upgrades". The PDS refers to the site bankwest.poweredbycovermore.com , but it currently is for customers needing assessment of extra cover for medical conditions only.

Not a fan of this change. Was thinking of keeping the card since their existing cover suited the GF and I for our 7 week trip next year.

Having a look at the site, I did see the below though..

Does this mean if we have already spent the $500 criteria before the 09/12/2019 we are eligible for the full cover, without the need of getting the "upgrade bolt-on" for our trip next year?

Yes, if your trip is booked and you meet the criteria ($500 spend, return flights, etc.) before 9/12, even for travel after 9/12, then the old T&Cs apply, with no need to pay for the upgrade.

This actually makes my decision slightly easier, once I've paid this month's balance I'll be getting rid. This is a negative change, arguably they should be pro-rating a refund of the annual fee for anyone cancelling on that basis.

Perfect! we will keep the card until next year then. Still have a few USD and foreign currency bookings to be made and might as well get points for it.

I'm so glad they advertise this clearly on the website for everyone to see... It was a headache with Qantas and their 19 September points change.

It's definitely a good card for foreign spend, has a decent earn rate too and, in fairness to them, they have explained the changes clearly.

But, the fact they're making these changes so soon after so many people will have taken out the card (no doubt, as they don't have a near permanent sign up bonus like ANZ/NAB etc. tend to) is a bit disappointing.

I put through the March/April 2020 trip a while back, so that is covered by the current Insurance arrangements. After 9/12 may still use it for foreign transactions, but will switch the fares compnent back to my Westpac Card where the insurance deal is better.

Has anyone tried for a fee reimbursement due to the major change in the insurance cover?
