Bankwest reduces rate from 16 may

Received my new card today, not activated yet. It's quite attractive, more a dark grey than black (reminds me of the WP QFF card).
Letter accompanying it confirms no change to annual fee ($99) and benefits like 0% foreign currency conversion fee remain.

Got my new card today with the same conditions as yours.

Though, it's still flimsy and not matte finish like the Citibank and CBA cards. Now gotta make sure it lasts for 5 years without falling apart...

I tried setting up BPay to this new card, with the new customer reference number and failed. Internet banking from 2 banks (UBank and Citibank) threw error indicating that "the customer reference number was incorrect".

Has anyone found the same? I tried adding the new customer reference number before I got the card and on the day I got the card and activated.

Ours arrived today too. I rather like the design, although my wallet is turning into a stealth wallet with so many black, dark grey and platinum cards I can hardly see them in there!!

I rang and asked to switch to the world card before the same-annual-fee offer went out. Unfortunately it seems Bankwest is keen on shafting early birds and won't reduce the annual fee down to my platinum annual fee ($140). Anyone else in a similar situation?

Follow the link given up thread. It is not unique so you can just sign up with the T&Cs it offers, which includes the same annual fee.

I just got the World card from signing up using that link. On the back of the letter, it says $220 annual fee. Did anyone get that? I was expecting the same annual fee as platinum.

My fee was $220 also. I called up and swapped to a different card. The lady was quite perplexed it went through as I didn't meet the minimum criteria. Maybe that was your reason (eg credit limit below $12,000).

Will this still pay points on transactions with our fav friend? because it is uncapped now? if so, the fee is just a minor inconvenience.

I used the link to move to the new card on the same terms and conditions including annual fee. Card arrived and the paperwork said the annual fee was $220. I rang last week and they've come back to say it was an error to do with the codes not being properly entered. Apparently it has effected quite a few customers so look out for it

I was trying to swap from a non Qantas card though, just to see if the system let it through and maintain my zero fee. While it changed my card, it didn't keep my zero fee so I decided not to force the issue, and played dumb on the phone by saying the website let me upgrade my card when the questions were asked.

So thanks for your message, but I expect it's no mistake in my case.

Just wondering if anyone with the new BW QF Mastercard has had anything "weird" happen lately? Yesterday I was giving the number over the phone (to a charity) and they kept insisting that their computer was reporting it as an invalid card number, then just now I got an email from Telstra to say the latest auto-payment (using that card) had failed. Could be coincidence I guess - I used the card ok in a shop yesterday - but just curious if anyone else has had anything like that happen.

No anomalies for me or the second card holder yet.

I have had similar issues with card when I got it. It was treated by some merchants as being issued in United States. A quick check at binlist.net - Free BIN/IIN Lookup Web Service confirmed my suspicion. However other tools such as https://www.bindb.com/bin-database.html reports this correctly as being issued in Australia. Made some purchase on Amazon and it was the only card which Amazon did not suggest Dynamic Currency Conversion to AUD. I am no expert but if some one here can add to this, it would be great.

Although existing card holders are grandfathered at this stage, I do not think it will be long before we are 'enhanced' to 0.75 points per AUD.

My last 2 statements now show points per dollar spent 0.75, not happy, nothing noticed on the statements advising of the change. Only picked it up on the December statement.
Will contact Bankwest for info.

Why didn't you upgrade to the black card?

Existing cardholders continued to receive 1:1 until I noticed the change on the November statement.
Will have to check out the world card.

the change was announced a long time ago , for existing cardholders too. When the world card was released

Following was on page 4 of September statement, obviously missed it. Now applied for the world card.

Change to Qantas Points for Bankwest Qantas Platinum MasterCards
Applications received prior to 16 May 2014 are currently earning 1 Qantas Point per A$1 of eligible purchases. Effective 15
November 2014, the earn rate will be reduced to 0.75 Qantas Point per A$1 of eligible purchases.
