Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Easy pickings. Open an account fulfil the criteria by putting required cash in for 2 months then buy 10 x $1 chocolates from woollies get 10K points then close the account.

It would.need to be 10x$2 chocolates. The 10 transactions need to be $2 or more.

For that you need to swap both your Electricity and Gas over to Red Energy. So not as straight forward or as easy as this.
My experience was easy and already done it in over past 3 weeks with confirmation letters that accounts have changed. Have had calls from my previous providers asking why I changed.

Openning another account with Bankwest to see how i go with this 10K promotion .
Yes, I must admit when I read that when I read that previous holders cant get the bonus that my immediate though was that "this depends on their IT capability which has proven somewhat poor in the past" so not convinced they would effectively make this restriction work.

Will be interested to find out!

I remembered that I had this before in 2015 for about a week and cancelled it before ever using it. BW advised I am 'barred'.

Do micro payments still give you 5 QFpts or have they woken up and closed that loophole?
Min spend is $2. And, you can't get the 10K QF points if you have EVER had one before.
The $2 payment relates to the 10K bonus, they don't seem (amazingly in my view) to have put any restriction on micropayments aside from this. You would have thought they would use the reframing of the T&C's as an opportunity to do this.

Of course, as we all know if you do make lots of micropayments, they will probably (eventually) close your account.

Yes you would have thought so. Tossing up whether to try to open one and see if the 10k bonus comes through. Wouldn’t bother trying the 1c game again though. 950k pts was enough the first time around! :D

Sue but this is perhaps speculation. We certainly know they did monitor and close accounts at a point in time but not sure that they do so all the time as there would be a cost in tying up staff doing this. In my view its more likely they would do this periodically rather than consistently so who knows, you might get away with this for a period. The experience of people on this forum last time certainly suggested they weren't very consistent with this.

Great to see this thread I started such a long time ago appear on Matt's front page but cant help thinking it was actually much more useful back then!

Always good to get things in writing just in case something goes wrong. I have a Bankwest Telenet saver account and wanted to make sure that I would get the points if I signed up to this deal. So started a conversation and got the response I was after. On this basis I'm in for this promotion and will be miking it for all I can get. 50 micro payments a day!

I currently have a BANKWEST TELENET SAVER account. I have become aware of this current offer from Bankwest "Get closer to your next holiday with 10,000 bonus Qantas Points when you open a new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account. " I wanted to confirm that I am eligible for this offer even though I already have a Telenet account with Bankwest.

Thanks for your message Dr Ralph :) I can confirm the Terms and Conditions of this offer state "If you already hold an existing Bankwest transaction account or if you have closed one in the last 30 days, or if you have previously held a Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account, you are ineligible for this promotion." As you have not held or closed a Transaction Account with us, you are eligible to apply :) I hope this helps!

Interesting just reading the T & Cs 'To be eligible for the bonus points you must make 10 transactions within the first 2 months of account opening on your new Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account'. Sounds like 10 x $1 dollar transactions will make the cut. Cant find anything about it having to be $2 transactions

Interestingly, business related expenses seem not to be eligible for earning QFF points... Still, I guess larger business transactions would inspire one to claim for the CC churning realm instead of a debit card.
