Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

It's the one standard 'transaction account', though you can apply to have a Platinum debit card, over the 'standard' debit card attached to the account.

4 cards per account? Or do you have family members who have accounts?

I just went to the website, can't see anything about a Platinum Transaction account?

Just one account. I began with the standard card then asked to be upgraded to the platinum card. Then I asked to be downgraded back to the standard card and finally on the weekend I asked to be upgraded to the platinum card again. All requests were made in branch. None of the cards have been deactivated yet meaning that once the new platinum card arrives some time next week I will be able to make 200 transaction per day on this account. My wife has two cards going on her account but doesn't share the same enthusiasm for this sort of thing that I do so she will remain on 100 transactions per day.

I couldnt find find anything on the website either. Just go in to a branch and request to be upgraded to the platinum version of the QF debit card. It will take them 2 minutes to make the change and then you're on your way. 7-10 working days and your new card will arrive in the mail.

There are a few additional non-QFF related features (online price guarantee is one) but I didn't pay much attention as I have no use for it other than the points. Need to deposit $4k per month to avoid the $6 monthly fee instead of $2k with the standard card.

Awesome, thanks. Did you go to a different branch each time?

Perhaps the person who helped me, didn't realise that Qantas Transaction account holders could only get orange, because their standard debit cards are supposed to have the Qantas logo on them. If I remember correctly though, ordering a new card through BOB did have the option of a colour, but whether or not you would actually get the colour you ordered, instead of orange, I don't know.

My card is blue, but no Qantas logo - soi they can issue different colours. Whether they are supposed to on not is another matter.,

The initial upgrade and also the downgrade were done in my main branch. The re-upgrade was done in a different branch as the staff in the main branch know me now as I come in and deposit cash each month. Wanted to avoid any possible suspicion from the staff so went with somewhere they definitely don't know me.

Racked up about 700 transactions yesterday ...

Today, I was in my local Coles, and started clicking off my transactions.

Got to about 45 or so, and then something started happening ...

The machine went really slow ...

( meanwhile, at a back office at BW HQ in Perth ... )

A red light started flashing on a console ...

The operator called his supervisor over ...

" Sir, I think I've got him ... "

Supervisor leans over the operator, and glees ...

"Right. This is him. Put a stop on that card at 50 transactions. We've got him ! "

" Yessss sir ! "

Back in Sydney, I get this screen come up on my Coles machine ...

My card stops working.

It's over ... for today ...

Did you take a photo of the screen?

It guess it was only a matter of time before cards stopped starting to work after multiple transactions, particularly in store.

sounds like someone may have killed the goose that laid the golden egg.

Im still getting 50 1c payments online, sometimes either: 55, 56 or over 60!

Right now: doing 55 before error msg.

Coles machines have slowed down - to about a third of what they previously operated at ... or is it just my cards ?

Today, only 49 transactions allowed ( per card ).

Maybe something to do with the 34 page e-Statement that came through yesterday ? ( apparently just one day's worth of transactions, as a 10 page e-Statement the day before ! )

Really?

Go to the features tab and it's under With everything you need to make banking easier.

I went into a branch today and asked for an upgrade. The guy showed me the link (as you mention). I guess you have to look for it; not as obvious as the other cards.

He said that the normal card wouldn't be cancelled ("you can use it as a backup"). There is a 4k minimum monthly deposit to avoid the monthly fee. I forgot to ask if that was on top of the 2k for the normal card - even though they are for the same account. Anyone had confirmation?

I've been paying 4k with 2 cards, no fee, for the past 1.5 months.

Whereabouts is the features tab?

Does the online application to upgrade give you an answer immediately like requesting in branch does or do they require something else/some other contact?

I think I've detected a way that BW will 'limit' QFF points to the 'players' ...

Today, I noted my online account transactions are showing a 'drawn' balance.

looking back, I'm technically in arrears for the last 300-odd transactions !

The way they finalise transactions ( overnight ), shows they are 'playing around' with my ( ? everyone's ) balance ...

Eg. I had my pay credited to my account on 18th. but I've made xx_ number of transactions AFTER my pay was credited.

BW have debited my account the xx_ number of transactions, but not included my pay - thus, my account shows some 300-odd transactions are drawn ( each showing a negative balance of well over a grand ).

I shudder to think, that they could impose a 'default' of say $10.00 on each of the xx_ number of transactions !!!

So .... could they actually WITHOLD any QFF points due, given the account is not in 'credit' at the time of each transaction ??

( bit hard to follow, I know ... )

Thats sounds very complicated Rick93.

I think they will just impose a monthly cap on the points like other banks have done to some of their accounts.

Good day gents,

I've opened the account last month, deposited 2k, etc. I've also been playing with Telstra transactions, doing a few 0.01c transactions via debit card.

Got my first statement today and it shows few hundred transactions but 0 qantas points credited. Is this normal? When can I expect to see some points?

Thanks
