Best seats economy A380?

I know someone in a 33A later this month - can you get some photo's please as photos of 33A and it surrounding seem thin on the ground. :D

Sorry, didn't read this until I was home, don't think I'd choose this seat again unless I was with my wife. Like most Y seats, when the seats in front are back all the way it is almost impossible to get in and out of. If the person in 33B is asleep and you don't want to wake them it isn't easy!

My other issue with upstairs Y is locker space, always a problem if you are one of the last to board.

On this flight there were 3 spare seats upstairs, I wandered downstairs and from what I could see almost everyone in rows 79 to 88 had an empty seat next to them. People were stretched out across 3 and some in the middle across 4 seats. This is the first time I've seen so many empty seats on a London, Dubai, Melbourne/Sydney flight.

SWMBO and myself are on Dubai to Sydney in June and have paid for exit row seats (using points) 35 J and K.

I do like the side storage hatch, very handy.

I have decided to not to worry about 33A and B, there is no chance I would be able to get it with my FF status.. Instead I went with 80k.. Looks a better seat with free leg room..

Have now done 70 Flights on a QF380 and will ALWAYS go for 80A/K or 71D followed by 66D followed by 32A then row 48 A or C or Row 35 JK These I have found to be the best seats in the house in Y

What about when travelling as a couple ... suggestions ?

It is the best decision really.

No match between 80K and almost all other Y seats

Well, except 80A

Even in 71D your seat mate will get up and out on occasions.

Whereas the 80B/J tends to go towards the aisle - almost always.

I will usually book 80A and C and normally get a plat shadow so that Mrs Ansett can spread out and it has worked around 100% of the time when we have flown together and not secured an up grade with points or an op up lol :D

When you say plat shadow, do you mean that you get the mrs in seat 80 h and and I keep K with the hope that no one sits in the middle of us???

Mrs_G is short of stature and doesn't care about seat size, so I take 80A and she takes 80B. She can also come past me to escape if 80C is full. A taller person would be able to hoig a bit more of my space if they were anmgled sideways

Has anyone had 32A with a shadow-stealer in 32B? And how did it go with getting out?

I've had 32A once but had a shadow so it was wonderful.

Tossing up between 35K and 66A for the next flight now that I have P1 and no exit fees..??

I've had 32B with a shadow stealer in 32A ;) but it was no problem even with my legs outstretched.

I'd go 35K in a heartbeat, even more so that you don't have to pay for an exit row as a P1..
However it's quite likely you will have someone in 35J so I wouldn't expect to have a shadow there...

Yeah if a shadow could be guaranteed - then I'd take 32A.

But with no shadow I think 35K may be the money seat ;)

That is exactly what I mean :D

Flying MEL-LAX return in July. Have finally decided to fork out for an exit row one way, was surprised (and happy) to see that 35K was available for the return trip. As I'm only in the US for 5 days it will be good to stretch out on the trip home, especially as it's overnight. Have requested PE upgrade on the way over but as I'm only bronze (will be silver after this trip) I doubt I'll get it.

I did enjoy the upper economy cabin on a trip last year. Was with my girlfriend so we got 36JK which worked well. She likes the window, I like the aisle and the service upstairs is definitely superior.

Hi guys, I have loved this thread. I am a tad excited as I am going on my first A380 trip in May 2015 MEL-LAX-MEL. We've booked our flights using QFF. My friend and I got seats 36J/K upstairs both ways. My sis and hubby couldn't get up stairs as only exit rows left. They're silver FF members and I rang to see if there could be any seats opened up in the upper deck. They booked them into 36D and F. Which I already knew from this forum that was a disaster. So they did book them for $0 then changed their seats to down stairs in 80A and C. Hoping (fingers crossed) no one gets booked into 80B.

Am I right in assuming we should look again for seats in the upper deck from about 80 hours prior to flying? Is that when they're opened up? The Q staff member I spoke to said those seats were reserved for crew and crew family etc.

Another question, what is the capacity from Mel-LAX in May like? I fly in May OS each year because it's generally a low season and the planes I usually go on aren't full at all. I wondered if the LAX ones were similar at that time of the year?

I am really looking forward to the A380, as I've only ever been on the A330 before, which I do like too.

Another question (sorry I have so many), what is a shadow stealer? I've seen it mentioned a few times and cannot work out what it means. Sorry this is my first post and still working it all out.

Cheers

Lisa

80A is the best Y seat one can get. I often change seat from upper deck to 80A/K if they become available.

Alright, I will tell them to keep it. My Bro in law is quite tall, so the leg room will be good. It is like miles out until we go, but no harm in getting in early. After reading all these threads, I am surprised 36J/K were even available.

Bonus

Cheers

Lisa
