Best seats economy A380?

I would like some recommendations for booking seats for an upcoming trip to London in April on QF A380. There are 2 of us.

Trip over, no 80A/K available. Best I can see is 66ABC or 35EF (35JK gone, no other economy seats available) on the upper deck. Upper deck is appealing but not so keen on foot traffic maybe passing by.

Trip back more choices, 80J/K available have sat in these before. 48BC, 66ABC and 35JK upper deck. I am NB so will have to pay for choices.

You could always ask for 66A/C hoping nobody would be willing to pay for 66B.

Tough call! 32A/K with the side storage being differentiators - I'd go for 80J/K (with seat alerts for 32A/K).

Travelling with my wife SYD-DXB vv. I am currently booked into 80A and 80B both ways. 32A and 32B is also available on both flights (as WP). I have travelled in 80A before and found it great. But 80B didn't look great, so maybe 32A and 32B is a better compromise.

Do you guys think I should change at least one leg to 32A/B??

Sure - at least one-way.

80B (80J) are average/ normal seats with an in arm tray table beside them - although, if the 80A (80K) occupant is well known, egress is easy.

Yes I think I will go for 66AB on the way over

However trip back 35JK is appealing but I would have to pay $360 exit row fees as opposed to 80JK would only cost $80

Thanks. I am exactly 6 foot. Seems to be quite a few differing opinions in this thread about how comfortable or not that would be. I know you from F/Talk, what do you think?

Having just flown in row 32 from Dubai to London and being a mere 5ft 8 I would sugest that at 6ft you may well find it cramped.

My sugestion would be to stick with 80A and change your partners seat to 80C, If your Plat shadow works as it should then hopefully there will be no one in the middle seat. Have used this technique Many times and having done 64 flights now on the A380 I have never been disapointed

I'm pretty well smack on 6 foot and found 32 J/K a bit of an awkward seat. The extra leg room was nice but it wasn't enough to fully spread out but was too much to rest my feet on the bulkhead wall. Sitting on an angle and using the side bins was a bit better but then I got a few pressure / numb points which ruled that out. On the second leg DXB-LHR I sat in 32J and went across the foot space of my travelling companion - this was much more comfortable than 32K. I still think it's better than a standard Y seat but I'd go with the extra $ for an exit row if I had the choice over again.

Think the consensus is clearly pointing towards 32 only being good for the shorties!

I am 6ft with very long legs (inseam 36inches), hubby & I will aways take 80K & 80A if they are both available (always take seat comfort over sitting together). I hate bulk heads without cutouts. I find them excruciating. 71D is my next choice.

For me (who is 5ft 7), the two pairs of seats in row 32 are perfect as I can rest my feet on the side bin if I sit on an angle. I have also tried 32D but I didn't like it too much as the curtins keep brushing my feet whenever an FA/pax walks past.

As for 80A and 80K, my only gripe is the light pollution coming from the gallery but I suppose a comfortable eye mask can fix that easily.

I usually get row 34, but 32F (front-row of upstairs economy, not aisle) is available. Would the bulkhead be a good or a bad thing in this case?

Should I go with 32F or stick to 33/34?

I haven't sat there, but when I had a peak my impression was that a 6'2" won't be able to stretch out with the bulkhead. Probably easier to stretch out under seats than at the bulkhead.

Hi Guys, I've trawled the thread - Thanks for the vast information.

I have the choice between 48A & 32A (48A allocated now) for a SYD - LA trip. My concern is restricted leg room. Should I stay, or move to 32A?

It looks like I'll have someone in 48B, but 32B is free and I may be able to keep a shadow as WP.
