We have 35J/K QF127 and QF128 depart HKG Sat. return week later, be interesting, will report back.

Please do. And a TR would be nice if you have time :)
Would be interested if above seats 36J/K I can fit a small roller above + backpack in your opinion.

bins above are very small, small roller ok but many backpacks and carry ons did not fit, crew stored them anywhere they could. Exit seats 36J/K have no window other than tiny one in door. Return flight tomorrow we have 32A/B bulkhead seats these have a side storage bin. Its rather cosy in the small upper Y cabin unlike the cattle truck downstairs.

Exit seats are 35J/K ... 36 is last row starboard side ... so just checking I presume you mean 35 J/K has no window nor side storage?

My views on 32 J/K. We traveled the QF1 route SYD-xDXB-LHR back in September. I found the private feel of the upper deck economy cabin great but it was a problem with carry-on bags and getting space. Fortunately as a WP we got early access to the cabin so could store our bags above our heads - others who boarded later were forced to put their bags a few rows away, or as mentioned elsewhere, in the W cabin (much to the annoyance of those actually in the W cabin it seemed). The side bins are great in that cabin for storing the stuff you want to have ready access to.

Leg room was a little awkward for me (I'm pretty well right on 6 foot) as it was too close without the bulkhead cutout. I was able to rest my legs on the side bins and/or a roll-away bag under our feet (obviously only after take off).

Service was quite good for Y - fairly regular and quite timely as it is such a small cabin (much better than seeing them starting the meal service in the cabin but waiting 10-15 mins for the meal). I liked having the stairs close by for a little bit of a leg stretch now and then - but I've read elsewhere the use of the stairs is not always allowed by the FA. I didn't have any issues using the stairs many times during the flight.

My only other comment is that I dislike the DXB stop-over route and would much rather going via SIN. That 14 hour flight from SYD is a real killer and I found it very uncomfortable after about 12 hours. The only advantage - the DXB-LHR leg seemed like a domestic flight in comparison! The short turn-around in DXB didn't really allow much time in the lounge either which I hadn't realised when looking at the times. I had assumed it would allow time for a shower or meal - in reality we had maybe 30 mins in the lounge after security clearance and before boarding. It was time for an express meal via the buffet but I heard others comment that they had ordered food in the F Lounge but it wasn't delivered before the flight was called. Not sure what experience others have had in the DXB F Lounge and whether this is usual. The buffet was quite good and given how much food we'd eaten in the SYD F Lounge + eating on plane we didn't really need more food anyway!

This has been my experience as well. The Dubai terminal for the 380s is definitely designed as, essentially, a private gate with coffee service. I would much rather have a couple of hours like the old SIN run. I suppose the counter argument is that many people won't be going straight on to London and will change terminals and get a connecting flight into Europe. Certainly the lounge in their non-380 terminal was much better.

Hence why I always try and book MEL-LHR on QF9/QF1 then return on QF2/QF10. This allows some reasonable time in the lounge whilst also scoring more status credits. WIN WIN imho.

I would consider that next time, if I had lounge access. Had just enough time to drink a juice, check my email and brush my teeth before it was time to board.

in response to a previous question, pre DBX- we boarded from memory in SIN in March via a separate "A380 upper deck" only lane..... felt ever so slightly privileged! We were in 35J & K, great seat as mentioned, but yeah, window is too small and is (purposefully) distorted like a wide angle bubble

hi all.. does anyone know what row 34d-g seating is like? our upcoming SYD-LAX flights only have this group of seats available on the upper deck (gold ff so have access to all econ options as far as i know)

i'm just wondering if there's an issue with reclining or something as it seemed a bit odd both flights only had these available.

thanks!

Well, plus is that they are on the upper deck. Downside is that they are kind of close to the toilets, which you might find annoying, and people might hang around behind your seats whilst waiting.

Hi all have the choice of either 66D or have just about all seats on the upper deck open on QF2 LHR DXB

UD QF10.JPGAlso have 66D or again just about all seats on the upper deck on QF10 DXB-MEL

I am travelling alone prefer an aisle seat and with hand luggage only.

What would be considered the best seats to book

Definitely 32 B/J

Hi thank you for your reply

My Concern here is legroom being a bulkhead seat With 66D there is a lot of space enough for me to fully stretch out my legs . Is this the same on 32? I am only 5 foot 8 :D

35 J/K have huge legroom, best seats are 32 A/B & 32 J/K forum to 5.10" person, (I"m 5.9) latter have side storage bins.

One loo in this cosy 30 seat cabin at rear of top deck, not much waiting anytime on my 8 hour flight maybe one person only.

Upper deck is always the better option (particularly getting off before the lower deck) but board early or minimise your carry on.

Another advantage of 32B/J over D/G is that the aisle angles away from you. Your feet are somewhat less likely to be trodden on/have a trolley run into them if you stretch them out.

I can not speak for Qantas Economy. But on my last flight (see trip report ) , I had the great pleasure of spending 3 hours in Economy. This was spent sleep across the 3 crew jump seats, at the very back of the lower deck. If you get one or two of the seats just in front, and the crew are not using the jump seats, you can ???? maybe use them to sleep on.

I have 32 A&B picked on QF1 next week but am a bit concerned about the leg room. I sat in 23K on QF24 SYD-BKK and my legs were a bit constrained. Is the leg room on 32A&B similar or is it a bit more roomy? FYI we are both 6 feet tall.
