Bonus 3000 Velocity Points with Amex-issued card

Yeh points haven't come through for me yet after making the transactions the other day. And seems they come straight through for those that have received the email. Defintiely thinking it is targeted. Fingers crossed sometime in the next 8 weeks they come through but I'd be surprised.

So for some reason i had it in my head that the 3,000 velocity point will post directly to Velocity account so was keeping an eye out there. Turns out they obviously post to the Amex first, checked my account earlier and the 3,000 points are in Amex and would imagine at statement end they will sweep across with all the others.

Yes, watch your Amex account, you will see really quickly if this has worked or not.

As if Amex actually know you are splitting bills. For anyone with a basic knowledge of how the payment systems work, would know that payment systems are quite basic, I.e. Customer, merchant, amount and if you are lucky a basic categorisation of the transaction. This is all just bluster, Amex trying to put people off gaming the system, and largely this works because people think they have all this info. They don't.

Amex (and indeed most credit card companies) know more than you'd ever think. Amex has told me 'no need to call us when you travel overseas, we already know'. They know I book my flight on the card, they can then find out where i'm actually going too. Big Data is scary. There's other experts around here that have had conversations with me and told me things. If you're paranoid, never ever use a credit card again, and only take cash out from a passbook at one single branch

Did you get the email offer? Can anyone responding with points credited just mention if they got the offer or not. Still waiting to see if anyone who didn't receive it manages to get the points. Haven't come for me yet.

The 3000 points posted with mine and +1s fifth AMEX transaction. We both got the email offer. ps the self checkout at Coles / Woolworths made doing the 5 transactions very easy!

Thanks, I have worked in the payment card industry so know a bit about this, including on Privacy related projects. But just to take issue with the above comment, actually what Amex knows here is that your card (or at least your card details) have been used overseas, do they really "know" it was actually you who used it?

One spend split into 2 at Coles, and one spend split into 3 at Woolies.

Foreign currency transactions don't count. Makes things a bit more difficult if you're overseas during the promo!

I'm not sure how to read that line. As I would think it reads is As in buying foreign currency.

To confirm, transactions in a foreign currency do count as eligible transactions.

I got the email, and yesterday I made my 5th qualifying purchase, and my 3,000 Bonus Velocity points are already showing on the Amex website. Now I just have to wait a few days for them to transfer over... I'm loving this Velocity Amex card, I get so much value from it!

What do you mean by this? Are you saying that they will give you 3000 bonus points if you add an aditional card holder to an existing account?

This is what has been reported elsewhere but have yet to see this anywhere on Amex site.
