I wonder if instead of the 737M8 it was a220-100s


Whether bonza wouldve made it work. Issue of course being a lack of 220 pilots.
 
A220 still costly to lease at circa 300k/month. I don’t think the overall situation would change much.

ATR/Q400 looking at mid 100s to lease.

Low cost ATR/Q400 is something that hasn’t been done here, I guess it might be an option. Would be interesting to see the numbers. Certainly not an issue filling the thing on the network.
 
Ask ZL, they have the answer.
I would also be surprised if ZL does not regularly investigate potential airport pairs.

Whether they have spare Saabs and aircrew is another question. Pity they are not in production any more

Court documents reveal that Bonza has around 58,000 forward bookings.

At full capacity, that would fill around 312 flights. For context, Bonza have been scheduling around 800+ sectors per month.

No wonder 777 wanted to pull the plug...

Even at $50 per booking, that's $2.9M which I would think has already been spent. Let's hope they were paying the staff super fund payments.
 
Choice has published an article about the bonza collapse. Some of the choice members also had the phone ring out when they contacted the “hotline”.

One of the would be pax who is out of pocket advised the choice thread that they requested a chargeback …

Hubby contacted his bank for a chargeback and a few days later received an email from the administrator, Hall Chadwick, confirming that he had been listed as a creditor (but they are are still saying that ‘the tickets may of may not be cancelled’,
 
If you’re a passenger, just file a chargeback and move on. You won’t be getting anything out of Bonza being an unsecured creditor.

The councils will all be out with the pitchforks very soon owed millions. It’s going to get ugly.

Will be interesting to also see how much cash they have pulled from tourism and government bodies. They seemed to have a deal with QLD and NT authorities. Normally millions are handed over.
 
All aircraft now VH deregistered.
Still has the VH stickers, however the registered operator has changed from Bonza to the 'ferry' company De Lore and Associates (who has done ferrying work for VA aircraft during their administration back in 2020).

IRC there would be some Victorian Government involvement on the basis of Avalon and Mildura. MEL Airport may had some involvement in getting Bonza to put a base there.

Unfortunately I paid with a debit card so I suspect it's not eligible for a chargeback. I did get paperwork by email to register as a creditor with the administrators, but agree it's likely to be difficult to get anything back there. I've put in the claim anyway.

It's still a bit odd, as I still haven't received any official notification that my flight has been cancelled (in June). The website now says up to Tues 14th May - but if the planes have been repossessed it's hard to see how they could still run anything.

Unfortunately paid with a credit card over 120 days ago (over 200 days ago in fact), no chance Visa is going to reverse that, 120 days is their limit.

Isn't there an exception when you purchase something for a future date, like a flight or concert ticket? In that case, I think you may be able to claim a chargeback within 120 days of when the service was supposed to be provided.

ordinarily it’s 90/120 days for mastercard and visa. However in cases where the transaction date ks for supply in the future, you *may* have up to 540 days to request a chargeback.

I’d check with your bank on this. It should hopefully be covered.

If it was a scheme debit card (e.g. Visa or Mastercard) it may well still be eligible for a chargeback if the transaction was made using the Visa/Mastercard number.
 
The Flair aircraft in MCY is heading back to Canada. Scheduled to depart for Honolulu this morning, operating under Flair flight numbers.
 
Will be interesting to see how long Flair hangs on for. They are much bigger so perhaps might field a buyer if they also face issues.
 
Depends if Flair can get a buyer to dilute what's remaining of 777's stake in the carrier. Flair have actively stated they are looking at divorcing 777.
