Book a flight and Extend Current status to 2022

are we saying that if I take a flight that my status will be extended till the end of December 2022?

Correct. Up to 500 SC earned (not inc the 600 SC support) can also be rolled over in Jan 2022.

I also got a while ago the email about extending my status to 2022 by purchasing a flight.
However I am confident my status will be the same in 2022 if I don't buy a flight - NB LTQP.

Hoping someone can give some insight on my situation. I'm QF WP and Points Club Plus with an anniversary date of January.

Flew 900 SCs this membership year and had a status extension applied, now ending January 2022.

Not too worried since I'm sure there will be more changes, however as it stands now:

- All my SCs will get wiped at the end of this month (or do some roll over? Not sure here)
- I'll need to earn 600 SCs to retain WP between Feb 21 - Jan 22.

Is that correct or did I miss something?

Thanks!

Sounds correct to me. My anniversary is 28 February 2021, so am in exactly the same situation. SC previously extended to February 2022.

Irrelevant how many SCs were earned last year as they are wiped, but with the gifted 600 SC, we need to earn another 600 SC this year. There may be 100 rolled over due to Points Club Plus. There is no way I can reach PCP again by the end of next month as there hasn’t been any travel to spend money on!

Has anyone done this and seen their status extended into 2021? MrsDaver6 status year ends Dec 31. In Jan she booked and flew last week. Her status still shows as ending Dec 31 2021 and requiring another xx_ amount of points to maintain it.

Sounds like she has status locked in now until 31 December 2022. ;)

We won't start seeing any extensions until late March.

The QF systems are not that smart and as I start this post I will most likely mess with the heads of all those who roll over at the end of Feb. My partner has an end of Feb roll over date and when the rules came out in 2020 I was wondering what was going to happen to her status, it was was rolled forward into 2021. Her status is somehow linked to my roll over date via the P1 thing however these are some months apart. I suspect she will be rolled over to Feb 22 as I had already re qualified as P1 through to Aug 2021. I will get get get extended Aug 22 so I think she will be given WP status to Feb 23.

Not bad for someone who has earnt 20 SC during the past 11 months and this was 20 more than she had earnt this time last year.

I have booked my one way flight to extend status on a brand new booking and another one way flight on an old booking. Hopefully next membership year I can push to go back from SG up to WP again.

Was all set to take my flight this week, PER-BME. Unfortunately I've had to cancel due to the lockdown restrictions currently in effect in Perth. I'll still take the trip, but I need to book before the end of March to get my extension. Not that it really matters if I'm not flying, but seeing as I was going to make the trip anyway it seemed like a convenient way to ensure at least a little bit of comfort once travel starts up again.

Wait until the day of departure to see if Qantas cancel it. If they initiate the cancellation your extension is still locked in.

According to the information page on the Qantas website, booking a Classic Flight Reward will make you eligible for the status extension. But I don’t see a similar wording in the FAQs for the status extension.

Does anyone know for sure if booking a QF award flight makes you eligible for the status credit rollover?

As I was in this situation, with a membership anniversary 30 of march - first cohort to experience the rollover - I reached out to Qantas to check, and got this positive answer.

This is to acknowledge your query if your Classic Flight Reward will make you eligible for a Status Extension. Based on the policy, all bookings paid with cash, Qantas TravelPass, Qantas Flight Credit, Qantas Gift cards or with Qantas Points (via a Classic Flight Reward or Points Plus Pay) is eligible for the Status Extension.

I think like everyone, I was 99% sure that would be the case, good to have it in writing now.

Good data point. However, I believe that we will still have our odd skeptics, even if it was written in blood by Jenifer.

Edit: What about paying by credit card? 🤣
