Be aware that in the past, such notice showing up for the first 4 of 5 days of a new month has meant nothing by the second week of the month.

I am not sure they have fixed that yet.

IIRC, if they're earned, they should qualify for roll over.

FYI there seems to a problem with status extensions for some people. I booked a JQ NZ fare that is points earning in Feb (i.e. before 31 March). My Plat status was not extended and dropped to Gold. Been a nightmare to get hold of QF FF but they told me there's a problem with JQ bookings not working properly with the algorithm and lots of people who used a JQ booking for status extension are in a similar boat. It's an IT issue and we won't be put back to Plat till late April or early May. They won't confirm in writing but they verbally assured status will still be extended.

It's not rocket science, it's something easy to test, something announced months ago, yet Qantas IT team totally screwed up this in multiple ways: Miscalculate the rollover SC, extended members that shouldn't be, didn't extend members with JQ bookings.

I continue to maintain that the safest way to maximise the chances of status being extended smoothly would be a brand new booking for a revenue ticket on QF metal (not using points) with a QF flight number. That's how most people would be doing it and thus the primary scenario that they would be testing.

OK. I initially had 500 SCs rolled over, despite only taking one return trip during my last year. They have now posted back the 90 SCs that I was expecting.

I'm guessing they rolled everyone over at maximum before realising the error. Which is a shame. 700 looked much more achievable than 1110!

For March 31 end date members, status support was granted monthly from April 2020 to September 2020. Did you got yours at that time?

Did you got some rollover applied to you in the last few days, assuming you booked the qualifying fly for the rollover offer?

March members have it tough again for upcoming requalification: pretty hard to rollover 500 SC earned from March 2020 to March 2021 considering the little travel opportunities in those 12 months, and with no internatiinal flight for another 6 months, except some bubbles that will regularly pop anyway.

I don't think it's unreasonable to require people at this point to do a bit of domestic flying to keep status. Booking a single one way flight and taking it isn't that difficult.

QF needs revenue and the main way they're going to get that until international borders reopen is from domestic flights and secondly on the ground ways people can earn frequent flyer points.

Not a bad offer, generous I say. Take 1 flight & get extended 12 months or so.
Plenty options & places to see even for just a weekend in this beautiful big country.
Settle down all the, I only fly J to London types!

If anyone seriously still thinks that international travel is going to go to some kind of a COVID "new normal" in October, I think they're dreaming. The removal of AZ jabs for under 50s is going to delay the vaccine rollout. I think the best case scenario now, could be February after the school holidays are over which makes future announcements of further status support increasingly likely. It's not in QF's interests to announce further status support before they feel it's absolutely necessary as they don't want to discourage people from booking and flying domestic flights.

In any case, I suspect there will be at least one more DSC offer that those with 31 March anniversaries can take advantage of (even if only in a brief travel window), so there'll be a chance to re-evaluate what to do later this year or early next year.

If QF does allow status to drop back without further status support, they could consider once international travel resumes some form of status acceleration whether through DSC (or similar promos) or something similar to a status challenge where you say have to earn X SCs from international QF marketed and operated flights in a short period to level up one status level (though that may be more difficult to administer than another status extension).

If Qantas had calendar year memberships, rather than rolling 12-month memberships, that would be fine. But Qantas doesn't, so extending everyone's status by one year is not an appropriate fix.

NZ doesn’t have calendar year memberships and they managed to sort it out. As long as QF manage to fix their IT issues and sort out the extensions properly then I’m happy
