Looks like BTC is out for this trip
Minor problem.
My suggestion, BTC and use it as breakfast.

On a recent flight in Business, OH ordered Nasi Bryani whilst I got the seared veal fillet with crumbed hazelnuts. Both delicious and far more appetising than the normal onboard menu. The veal was surprisingly tender and juicy for an inflight meal.
My suggestion, BTC and use it as breakfast.
I'm not sure how it would go down if I chose a BTC meal and asked them to hold it for breakfast.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
SQ221 SIN-SYD only allows us to choose BTC for Dinner, with breakfast being Continental.

Well I had my BTC Lobster Thermidor on SQ 227, about midnight Australian time.
I asked the crew-member how many pax in J had ordered the dish (the cabin was 90% full)
"only you and Mrs D.........."
Seems like there weren't any AFFer's on that flight!

It does look a bit like a warning off a cigarette packet, does it not!?
If you let them know when they bring you the first drink after seating that you would like your meal at a later time the CA would then not heat it along with the other dinner meals. I can't imagine this would be an issue in J. Good thinking.
Is BTC available for J passengers? I'm doing SQ232 SYD-SIN on Friday and might be worth a shot.

Of course it is. As long as you're departing from a port which SQ has BTC ability, both J and F pax are eligible.
I agree! Having been too late (our first time in Suites) to take Cove's advice, I asked for BTC...and it was essentially the same as J.that looks suspiciously similar to the lobster thermidor they serve in F. very interesting!
Have flown SQ J a few times and never taken advantage of it! Don't I feel like an idiot?
Thanks for the suggestions guys, now I'm hungry looking at the options!

Usually I don't take advantage of BTC, with two exceptions:
The onboard selection is normally fit for purpose and some of the BTC options are pretty ho-hum anyway, unless you had a real hankering for that dish (e.g. specific dietary requirements, a certain meal to suit a certain flight time or your schedule / diet). This strategy has really only backfired on me once, when I had to accept a SQ J dish that was not my first choice (they ran out of the first choice) and ended up being very average (if even that). Of course, even if I had BTC'd that meal, it could have just as easily gone the other way.
- The flight departs from SIN (best semblance of guarantee on the quality, not that it should be drastically unacceptable in outstations) - this doesn't guarantee that I'll BTC, but it does significantly increase the chances
- I want to eat lobster
As I have posted numerous times, my opinion of BTC is similar to that of anat0l... Although I did enjoy a lobster recently, I am not particularly impressed with BTC, and usually just take the regular meals (or nothing at all as the sleep is more important).
The regular onboard options are usually very good IMHO.
