I've had some pretty bad lounge meals in the past, but the one in the SYD DOM J lounge tonight takes the cake. It is generously described on the sign as "braised chicken, tomato and olives."

I more accurately describe it as "slop".

If anyone knows how to post a photo from an iPhone/iPad, I would be delighted to share it with you.

The catering woman didn't seem to care. The friendly lounge dragon went into the kitchen and managed to find a few morsels of chicken for me.

I'm still of the opinion that takeaway from Wok on Air downstairs far outweighs any of the slop I've seen in the J lounge.

Bring it upstairs, grab a glass of wine from the bar and relax.

Not that there is a J lounge in Adelaide but when in need of something resembling decent food at dinner time my partner eats a meal at the Thai food bar at Adelaide airport. The QP just doesn't cut it.

Slop is a nice way of describing it. I refuse to touch it.

By the way the eggs and bacon this morning were horrible.

The braised chicken or shanghai chicken as they sometimes call it always looks dodgy to me.
The island dining is usually not bad, last week they served a nice plate of prosciutto and cheese.

Oh so QF have decided to follow their ex partner BA and serve slop?

Fantastic. Let the race to the bottom airport lounge edition commence.

Couldn't agree more! :D

Oh the EGGS!! Disgusting! I know just eat Cornflakes and fruit, and avoid the eggs... I guess it's healthier, but some days eggs sound like a great idea, until I see the chopped up baked eggs that they offer as "Scrabbled"....

I've very rarely seen scrambled eggs done well in any lounge, except for the SYD first lounge when they were made to order for me and on toast. :)

...with Lurpak butter?

:p

I love the Lurpak butter! Considering buying for home too now :)

Although if I remember correctly the butter in the F lounge came in a small dish with no label.

Point of order.

This thread isn't about "business class slop", it's about J lounge slop. Can someone fix the title?

isn't qantas club food supposed to be inspired by Neil perry?

if that's the case, and given some of the other food we've seen served (offal in sauce thread), maybe the answer is to send these pictures directly to Neil perry? (I was once able to pick up an entire scrambled eggs in between to fingers and hold it up and wave it around like one of those joke rubber vomit novelty items.)

I'm quite sure he'd be horrified to see some of the food going out under his name.

i questioned a dish on board once... and the flight attendant was at pains to point out that the food in [rockpool] is 'much much better' and the food on board shouldn't put me off visiting the restaurant.

i thought I also recall someone saying that Neil does random inspections of the kitchens and even takes some flights to ensure quality control? if that is the case, i wonder how random these visits can be? Perry/NeilMr (Platinum or chairman's lounge) on a pax manifest is probably a giveaway to management and kitchen staff that the food on that day will need to be prepared to top quality.

i may have made that last bit up... but there can certainly be a mismatch between what the dish is supposed to look like and what it comes out as. maybe direct feedback is required?

Actually the scrambled eggs I had last WED morning in SYD were really quite nice! Perhaps 'baked then chopped' would be a better description but they were good! Perhaps just got a fresh batch .....

The yoghurt things in a glass I quite enjoy also. (They are my pretence of healthy eating).

Cheers
