Business Class Trip Report

Thank you VA for your post.

As you can see from my post #1 above, I'm particularly looking forward to further information on the E190s as being in CNS my 73H options are limited.

The Cabin service is there - it will be good when the hard product is too :)

Will the new E190 business seating be 1x2 or 2x1 (i.e. 3 across the cabin)?

Sorry but we can't offer any news on that just yet!

If you look up on a Delta e-jet, you can see the different o/h bin configuration required for 1x2 premium class seating!

Basically this makes the port side bins so small they become quite useless, but the starboard side bins much larger.

I flew CNS BNE in late January in J class. There was a last minute aircraft change to a 737-700 without J class. I lodged my complaint on the website 1st February and received a response today. I am happy with the response time of 9 days (they state 21 days) and the recovery (credit) provided.

I was on a flight with PE and the only thing they got was a coffee and also a wrap type thing.

Not worth the extra money IMO

Yes, but often only if you ask.

Experiential stuff seems to indicate that many FA's simply don't offer .

Yes, indeed.

Whats with DJ's inability to cater for J properly? I'm going to whinge to them about this next week. I've had flights now with J mains but no desert, J desert with no mains, and tonights J (DJ888 SYD-MEL) there was no catering at all (???!!!) .. anything from the Y menu only, a sandwich or a wrap .. bleah.... thats not J, sorry, its just not.

For goodness sakes DJ, I'm hearing this on multiple posts now and its not a good look at all.

Coming off the back of a superb PER-SYD in J on the 330, really, extremely good, really didn't feel the love on the 737 SYD-MEL leg.

Was that on a -800 ?

Wonder what compensation will be offered for that? Was it a really crsppy flt ie seatbelt sign always on, or was there just no food. Aka LCC

Yes, one wonders. I'll pursue it as much for the feedback to DJ as anything else.

The flight was otherwise ok. The FA's were tired and I felt they struggled to give much happy face but we're all human - I was tired too and probably din't smile much :)

We were told that the J food wasn't loaded. I've had this excuse before. Mistakes do happen, every FF here knows that and accepts it, but there seems to be a rising problem with DJ's catering company which needs them to seriously look at I think.

Just had a good flight but confused about the catering myself.

What are classified as meal times with J? Would be good to know for my clients. Just did DJ1493 leaving sydney pretty much on noon and getting into Mackay around 1:30 local. Yet was served a "morning snack" Would think for a 2.5 hour flight around this time would of been a full lunch service (im sure it would of been on QF).

Anyone got any more info or could explain?

Its really not good enough is it? If its cost cutting, and surely it is, nickel and diming your highest paying customers, then why not offer a $$ discount for flying at their idea of snack times? I just can't understand it as a marketing strategy. Surely you'll get more complaints and less repeat business by serving a client a cookie when he really though he was getting a meal than you will by serving someone a meal when they thought they were getting a bag of nuts??

When the client expecting full service goes away forever, I hope the strategy still manages to somehow pay for itself.

At least QF highlight at the time of booking what the service is going to be - 'snack', 'breakfast' etc. Could be a useful enhancement for the DJ website to do something similar.
