I am in the QP now and feel so dirty.

I just don't get what's the big difference. I've been in both QP & J Lounge in Sydney & Melbourne... both when packed & empty... they seem to be much of a muchness. The food is not great in both, often both have stain ridden couches & they both can contain loud obnoxious bogans (thanks open plan design lovers!).

My wife often asks at MEL QP why bother going through the extra door. I don't have a reasonable answer for her anymore.... I just think there is no significant point of difference in the experience, I'm of the belief that Qantas have confused understated with underwhelming.

An announcement has just been made 'for the benefit of those travelling with young children' that there is a family area. Unfortunately we seem to be sitting in the same vague area! (not far from the bar)Have almost been run down by the kiddies (older ones) making a beeline for it!

Do you like cheese?

In The J lounge, typically there a cheese board where you can cut off/pick up piece of said dairy item. In the QP (SYD) last Monday at noon, the only cheese to be seen were piles of soggy looking ~10cmx5cm thin slices.

And the new Virgin lounge at MEL today looked spacious, elegant and uncrowded. Miles better than the MEL QP.

When it's a better experience to stay out of the QP, it's time Qantas took a look at it!

The differences between the lounges are subtle.

I can easily move between the 2 lounges based on the circumstances on the day. I have found at times in BNE the best place to be is the Qantas lounge as the business lounge is packed. I have also found at the times the food to be better in the Qantas lounge than the business lounge.

To each their own.

The bar is closer

I'll be in both CBR and MEL J lounges on 13th Jan. And I'll report in detail of all the renovations or maintenance done.

The removal of graffiti from the toilet cubicles in MEL J would be an improvement. And by that I mean the maintenance teams performing that task, not you doing it on the 13th ;)

I agree. the new VA lounge is fantastic.. time for Qantas to respond with a lounge uplift for the QP and J lounge.

That is surprising.

I have never observed any graffiti on board a commercial aircraft, so while I may be accused of being naive or failing to recognise how the world has changed (in this case for the worse), I would have expected that no one would daub graffiti (puerile or thought provoking) on anything in an airport lounge worldwide.

I had to laugh this morning when I went to have a points upgrade processed at the MEL check-in desk. The lovely service agent advised me that now I've upgraded I can use the Business Lounge. I politely advised her that as a WP that is one of my privileges anyway, but they are closed at the moment. Her response, "Really? I didn't know that. (I think on both counts) Sounds like you know more about it than I do!" After exchanging smiles, I left it at that.

This has happened (an invitation to use the Business Lounge) a couple of times over the last week to me as well, from Qantas ground staff. I guess its easy to forget the "refresh" closure, if you aren't working in the Lounge itself (or a pax wanting entry). Still, I agree, smile prompting.
