I'm scheduled to fly Vietjet VJ84 BNE-SGN 11:40pm which operates on the same aircraft that operates VJ83 SGN-BNE departs SGN 10:40am local (equivalent to BNE 13:40). As a discount carrier I feel certain VJ wont dispatch a wide body to BNE if it's likely to be diverted to SYD where they will have to hotel with 300 lost pax. So I should know early in the afternoon if the SGN-BNE flight has ben cancelled to expect my evening flight to be cancelled.

I've been watching the BNE TAF since earlier in the week. Currently showing

The southerly at 35 knts gusting to 45K is for time Thursday 4am - 4pm.

Expect to see more added as we go forward.

I have a feeling I'll be Qantas travel insurance's new friend.

A few airlines have zeroed out their flights to Brisbane (no longer selling):

Emirates - all flights until Sunday arrival
Qatar - all flights until Sunday arrival
Singapore Airlines - flights arriving from Thurs 10am until Monday

Qantas - Still for sale

Nope, QF are zeroing flights to BNE on Friday morning. MEL & SYD done, I haven't checked the rest but assume other domestic in progress.

International still available but I'd imagine they'll just divert if they have to, no point leaving a jet in LAX for 24-48 hours. Chances are they'll just manage with delays etc.

Not cancelled but very much running, just seeing that QF126 AKL - BNE is using a Dreamliner rather than a A330 as usual.

Any particular reason for such a choice?

I'm just north of Brisbane on the coast. All prepared.
Amanda78 +1 is in S. Korea, hopefully arriving back to BNE on Sunday morning 🤞
I'm almost all prepared, got into bne @1:00pm .
Shopping done (Woolworths@ dfo), gutters cleaned, outdoor furniture away, blinds up and tied, drain channels cleaned, wheelie bins away.
Having a beer... only to find there's only one left !
Edit...none now.

Good work!

Poor planning. I assume a temporary problem.

So I ended up flying down this morning - BNE was very quiet when I went through Qantas priority at 4.45am, flight to SYD was only half full.

Annoyed at Qantas, but maybe I don't have a right to be. My original routing was BNE to SYD to CGK all in J.

QF would not allow me to travel down this morning and leave tomorrow as connection great er than 24 hours. So they cancelled BNE to SYD segment and I had to pay for BNE to SYD flight. To be fair, they did refund extra points from BNE to SYD. I don;t think that is in the spirit of helping people. I wasn't;t trying to game a more than 24 hour stopover, was just trying to get out of BNE.

Anyway, all safe and sound in SYD and I can work out of SYD office so not losing any annual leave days.

Dont forget the dunny roll and bread
Nah, only 2 things on a FNQers cyclone list.

Ready to jump on CNS-BNE soon. Wind at BNE about 11 kmh gusting to 20. I was expecting a bit more gusto.
