Carry on Luggage

Thanks @Captain Halliday - yep, that's currently on top of the shortlist (mentioned by someone up-thread). :). Love those recessed wheels for the tough European conditions (cobbled streets, dug-up pathways ... )

5 weeks HLO?

Yep. Including a wedding.

How to fold a suit so it doesn’t crush is one for another thread.. or the TR if I ever get around to it.
Just cruel. Although we took DIL wedding dress in HL, and through Bali then to UK in a pink carry on. MrP took the pink case, just as well as I got picked for the most thorough non gloved finger grope search (including poking through wrapped Christmas presents) through Bali immigration whilst long haired surfer dudes skipped straight through.

So I looked further into Flylite. Found this review - vive la difference, @Pushka 😂

That's my carry on right there @RooFlyer In a very pretty colour.

Arrrgh. One of the ranges I've looked at is a carry-on but with a sort of built-in fold-out garment bag. Will try to find it - but you are probably packing it already!

Fine until those wheels-on-stalks, bearing the load designed to be shared between 4 wheels, hit a cobblestone or 100 and break off.
Should the event ever happen, A. You have two left. B. They are trivial to replace.:)

@RooFlyer following your request in the other thread, I have this (though previous generation model) Applite 4 Eco 50cm

And recently added one of these to the collection after advising the family our five week trip to Europe was “HLO, or you don’t go!”:
My kind of travel, and my rule for those traveling with me.

I am still very happy with my Caribee: Stratos Hybrid 42L wheel aboard backpack even though it is a couple of generations old. At 2.6kg quite heavy but worth it. A bit of a TARDIS inside.

Since I have been looking at luggage online I am getting alerts to Monos luggage. carry-on-luggage
Claims to be better than July 🤷‍♂️
I have a preference for soft sided luggage, so I can't comment. Might be of interest to those looking for the hard sided option.

Always good to compare. They look very similar in interior design but even the smallest carry on is 3kg. And being US are significantly more expensive.

My suitcases get a workout, and the rolling wheels worn out. Seems there is a special easy to wear out plastic! Spamazon have replacements. https://www.amazon.com/OwnMy-Colorful-Suitcase-Replacement-Bearings/dp/B07QLBSKFH The nuts are hollow, so you can shorten or grind them down. I even picked up a spare designer suitcase at 'GoodWill' bin outlet USA for $5 to hold my haul of shoes and sneakers. (Trader Joes Maple syrup and other goodies). Soft sided is good, because excess 'Prime' bubblewrap is easy to add/pad items.

I found two major hassles with the four-wheeler: the carpet

Especially the bloody new carpet where the VA pier joins the main terminal at MEL. So you are sailing along from the gate heading for the lounge, then all of a sudden you get bogged down in bloody new carpet AND an upslope. Either wrenches your wrist or drop the handle and everyone behind you curses.

They [carry-on luggage wheels] are trivial to replace.:)

Here is the border zone between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

I guess you are carrying spares and screwdriver to change the wheels when they fail on the gravel and potholes in the no-man's-land between the two posts?

Well, you still have two wheels left, or pick it up and carry it like we all did in the 70‘s!

Probably if it’s a real issue, the border guards will be moonlighting in wheel repairs.:)
