I haven't flown Virgin for a long time, but must make of a point of buying a pizza and taking it with me if I do. Even if to just offer a slice to the person next to me.

The cheese & crackers on yesterday's flight were a welcome improvement.

Although, I was a little disappointed to find that soda water is not included in the complimentary happy hour drinks. Does that not count as a soft drink?

I got a bag of sliced apples for the first time on SYD-MEL. That was a nice refreshing change.

Did SYD-BNE in J on 21/12, then BNE-SYD in Y on Christmas Eve and then SYD-MEL-SYD on Boxing Day (yes, for the cricket) - J on the way down, Y on the return.

Both times in Y was offered "Christmas Cake", which was mini-cupcake sized Fruit Cake. Nice, but was malteser territory (i.e.pop it all in your mouth) for me. Sliced apple was offered as an alternate on BNE-SYD though.

J on SYD-BNE was a bit disappointing - 10am departure and the option was Mushroom Quiche or a soup. J on SYD-MEL at 7am was more fulsome - cold option was yoghurt and granola or breakfast burrito.

Didn't really take the opportunity to look at the buy on board menu - for mine if I'm doing 1-2 hour runs it's a case of eat at the lounge pre-flight and/or post-flight, and leave the in flight stuff alone. It would be nice to have something more filling, but as was said before, VA have chosen to go down the "Group A" road.
