CBR QFF Pre coughtail Event Meetup

Since the BNE Event has a thread of its own, i'd guess we should have our own thread apart from the QFF Lesley Grant thread on the main QFF forum!

Right now it seems we would meet at the RUC (Rugby Union Club) or at The Realm before heading over to the event. Given how temperamental the CBR weather this week, I'm sure plans can change quickly! :/

When is the CBR event, I haven't paid any attention as I knew I wouldn't get an invite - just wondering?

EDIT: now I see it's this Thursday. Are you all just gathering to walk over ... maybe we could have had a drink first. Next time.

Mr FM has been whining about why are we going to a pointless marketing do, particularly in bad weather..... So I don't think we will be meeting up in advance. However if you see two 60 somethings standing on their own looking lonely because they don't know anyone, please feel free to come and say hi.

The BNE event had Taittinger! And the hors d'oeuvre were delicious.

Im happy to go with the consensus on this ... my vote is for the Realm and then share a taxi over to the event (to save the 20 min walk, lack of parking at NGA and especially if this weather keeps up!).

The Ostani bar (access from the lobby or directly from National circuit) is probably the best option at Realm.

If the event kicks off at 6pm, what time would people meet up? allowing 10 mins to get over to NGA.

I'll see you guys at the event. Finishing work around 5PM in Civic so doesn't make much sense to rush to Realm for a quick drink only to head back to NGA.

The event is at the NGA (Gallery on the south side of the lake) not the NMA (Musuem on the north side) right ?

I ask because Lowjhg suggested the Parlour Wine Room is close to the NMA, and SQ421 sounds like he is heading there from Civic and doesn't want to go south side 'only to head back'.

Just want to make sure I haven't got my wires crossed ? I mean, one is on Parkes Place and the other is on Parkes Way, so it is a bit confusing.

Event is at National Gallery which is on the Southside, next to the High Court and opposite John Gorton Building, home to departments of Finance and Environment. There will be plenty of available (and free after 5pm) parking near by at that time.

The event is at NGA. I just didn't want to rush to Realm for a quick drink and then track back to NGA, all between finishing work at 5 and the event starting at 6

I suggested Parlour because its outside my door and i am lazy to walk

Spoke to some interesting people and kept saying "so are you on the FF board" to no avail - did meet one lovely young man who admitted to having a handle and lurking. Function was heavy on alcohol and light on food - fun to go to and I did have the opportunity to whine about my current bugbear and now have Lesley's card and have to email her some details. The message was pretty much Qantas loyalty will not be sold off and Qantas has turned a corner. So a very positive message. Nice evening but disappointed not to meet some of the people here. never mind - still the meet in Istanbul next year to look forward to.
