Centurion 2011 Benefits

Don't you all find the 500k points cap pretty unbelievable when far cheaper cards are uncapped and earn points at the same rate?
Is there some benefit so good that Centurion is a total winner?
Is it the concierge service and can anyone give us an example?

Cove I have asked this exact question on a number of occasions - the only response I got that had any validity to it was from a guy who got 2 1/2 price F tickets to Europe - therefore the saving more than justified the $4,300 annual fee.

Maybe you need to sign a pact of silence or something on issue?

Pact of silence and cone of silence from Get Smart sound like pretty similar concepts.
Maybe it is like a Rolls Royce key ring status thingy.

It could indicate that the benefits are so good they don't want to share them with anyone else, or they are that poor they don't want to admit to it.

I think the $500K spend limit is more an incentive to keep using the card than split your spend as some of us do.

It was actually three F tickets and they were close to half price. Here’s a link to my post.

These questions about Centurion benefits and justification of the fee crop up regularly. There’s plenty of opinion on this forum - both for and against - and it’s probably better seeking it out rather than continuing to ask the same question again and again.

On that matter, Cruiser Elite, I notice that you seem to be having difficulty making up your mind about a Centurion card. Last December you said “it is a pretty simple straightforward decision - no thanks for Cent - will stick with Plat” in this post. Then two months later, in this post (sic), you reported having a change of heart.

It seems, by the further post in this thread, that you are again having doubts or at least that you are still looking for additional justification. I can understand that - I’ve questioned the annual fee myself on occasion - but I find that I receive sufficient benefits and discounts so as to justify the fee. I think your suggestion, contained in one of your posts, that you might give it a try for a year and then evaluate it based on your own experiences is probably the best way for you to proceed. Now you just need to wait for American Express to offer it to you again. :)

Homer - read me like a book mate - read me like a book.

I am a KF points junkie - the Westpac SQ Plat Amex gives me all points earning capacity I ever require - yes lost some of it's gloss with halving Visa earn rate but that is another matter.

YES I did clearly say I will give it a one year trial when offered again - I do intend to do so - but you Homer are the only guy whom I have ever seen justify the $4,300 expense - in your case well worth it.

And time and again we see the yanks being offered - or at least allegedly offered - many more perks than Aust base Cent holders - but still from the outside it does appear like a secret society with little outward flow of info.

Thanks Homer I do like hotel upgrades.
Have pretty much figured those First tickets thru SQ and QF to places we go regularly.

We got 2 x J Etihad companion fares for about $1k less than what was offered to the public, so $2k savings were made.

If only it wasn't for QF and the bloody $5999 companion fare sale to UK

Maybe a few of us need to call up and start requesting some QF fares, I fly 99% with Qantas and find it strange they have no partnership..

Or am I just wanting/expecting too much...

I think the problem is on the Qantas side... don't think Qantas likes to provide discount with its coughpy service ;)

Qantas took a hard line on exclusive credit cards and they won that battle.
They dont want to be a one third partner in anything or even a half partner.....it is 100% or nothing and when you consider it from their perspective I think they can and will succeed with that idea.

Hello guys...

I have received the official confirmation from the CTS of CX Diamond as of Monday.

This changes the game completely and I will never cut the card, so long this benefit stays.

For those still have the invitation waiting, please consider your application again!

Oh, wow - this is huge. Permanent OneWorld Emerald as long as you keep the card! Now I want one.

Was going to give the card back this year - but will keep it now!

I wonder if the supp card will also get CX Diamond?

Bye bye Qantas: no more JASA mileage run for you. Im sick of your service!

Hello CX: You just won my travel for this year to HKG, LHR, SIN and JFK.

thanks diesellife,
i called both the main number and cts and (of course) they know nothing about it.

so i called idc centurion (uk) and it's confirmed for idc centurions that we get cx marco polo diamond status effective april 11. for the idc i was told, the cx diamond benefit is only for the primary card holder.

this is a great benefit.
thanks again for keeping us up to date.
