Centurion 2011 Benefits

Finally Centurion picks up something decent for a change...
now they can drop the qantas club and use the refund to send us gift

Cove I have asked this exact question on a number of occasions - the only response I got that had any validity to it was from a guy who got 2 1/2 price F tickets to Europe - therefore the saving more than justified the $4,300 annual fee.

Maybe you need to sign a pact of silence or something on issue?

For USD1300.00 to USD1800.00 return you can get a KUPP or YUPP on AA ex HNL to Caribbean which would get you the status credits to take you from a NB to WP by the end of the trip.

I guess you need to factor in savings on those 2 for 1 J or F airfare offers & the Hilton Diamond status offer.

Never had an invite, but if I get one from now on I would definitely take it. Guaranteed OWE/ HH Diamond + discount premium fares sounds like a reasonable deal.
Has anyone tried to claim the fee as a tax deduction? ;)

That sounds like a cool idea, whats your routing on that ozbeachbabe?

thanks diesellife,
i called both the main number and cts and (of course) they know nothing about it.

so i called idc centurion (uk) and it's confirmed for idc centurions that we get cx marco polo diamond status effective april 11. for the idc i was told, the cx diamond benefit is only for the primary card holder.

this is a great benefit.
thanks again for keeping us up to date.

Sorry, I've got to ask, are we sure Australian Centurion cards will be getting this? Or is this an April 1 joke..

Cheers
Fuzz

Woohoo!!!

Now that is worthwhile for a change.. While I don't plan on dropping my QF WP status, I do plan on taking some trips away from the USA over the next few years, it's probably been a decade since I have been on CX, but I think that is going to change soon.

Again.. great News!!

How was this CX thing communicated e.g. via email or mailout? This is the first i've heard of this!!

A nice benefit of the CX status!

It's a shame CX have a hard expiry of 3 years on their mileage, and the earn/burn dynamics is similar to QF (i.e. still not as generous as AA let alone say BA), but instant status is good for those who might not want to disburse all the time on F or J tickets (after all, I'm assuming people with Centurion cards have a decent expanse of usable income).

CX Diamond is much harder to qualify compared to QFF WP, especially when only flying J & F.

Also, I think Centurion members are rich in personal wealth, but it does not necessary mean that they will just spend without cause.

wow until now I thought the difference between the Platinum and Black were marginal... For me this is a game changer... To get OWE without having to fly and getting the flounge and other benefits when you do choose to fly... massive win... I hope my spending pattern in over the next 2 years will get me an invite... that's when it's quite likely for me to lose my WP status... =/

I placed a phone call with Centurion last night - asked if this was urban legend or if this was the real deal. Was told I would get a call back in 10 mins: I'm still waiting for the call.

Fingers crossed!!

If OWE is being offered via Cathay then this is a great move. Along with the Hilton Diamond - that does cover off elite status for flying and hoteling.

I'm not a huge fan of the CX FF scheme - but they do look after their OWE's VERY well.

i'm glad to hear that i'm not the only one that centurion loves to promise to "get back to" and then never follows up. this seems to be happening ever more frequently and is a sad reflection on the level of service they provide.

as i mentioned in a previous post, when the australian centurion teams knew nothing about this benefit, i called icc centurion (in the uk) and the rep immediately told me that cathay pacific marco polo diamond status would be available starting april 11. he said that it was available to "residents of 14 countries" (of which australia was one) and that it was only available for the primary card holder.

diesellife's conversations directly with australian centurion confirm much of this so i am confident that we are indeed getting this benefit -- not as a benefit specifically from centurion australia, but as consequence of a more global agreement between american express and cathay pacific.

If you do call to check the CTS to check the benefit, the first tier of CTS would not have the information yet.

The official note will be released internally on Monday 04/04.

But currently, all the Team Leader or above is aware of the CX Diamond rolling out.
So if you get to speak to one of them, then you can get a confirmation from them.

PS: alemdohorizonte, I am curious if supp card will get the CX Gold (This is the rumour)

I’ve tried getting confirmation too but it’s tricky with the weekend team - there are only a handful of people in there. I’m pretty sure one of us will be able to confirm it tomorrow though.

One thing I was able to confirm was that all negotiations between AMEX and CX are made on a “worldwide” basis, rather than in local branches as some other relationships are handled, so that goes to the issue of the UK office being aware of this change for a number of countries.

When this gets announced, or even confirmed, I will be super happy. My partner and I struggle to get status (except Velocity) as the majority of our flights are done via points. Getting this status with CX will be a great win for us...

And in the words of Rebecca Black....

Hayden we are climbing that greased pole with Qantas for status by using Any Seat when it is about 10% extra than Classic.
Points first and cash last can still get you there.
Just remember to look for low Any Seat numbers first on QF like 42,990 vs 36,000 for J coast to coast.

Thats true Cove, and those are some good ways to get status with QF - if I was a big QF supporter, I probably would've gone down that path already... but as I'm not (that) much of a QF fan, DJ gets my personal dollars and QF gets my work dollars/points travel.

If this CX thing pulls through I will re-consider my travel arrangements very carefully especially if flying from SYD/HKG/LHR
