Ditto that - just sent off an email also stating I will probably cancel Cent if there are many changes to current TI policy.
Just out of curiousity, if you guys cancel the Cent card, which CC will you be getting?
I would downgrade to the Platinum charge card if I ever cancelled Centurion. I've already got a couple of Platinum credit cards - AMEX gives Centurion members one, which I just keep for the free domestic flight, plus my bank gives me one - but these are just credit cards and don't really carry any extra benefits.
Oh ok. Would you just purchase your own travel insurance since the Platinum Charge insurance cover is downgraded?
The travel insurance changes don't affect me much in practical terms as I buy essentially all of my travel, and pay for just about everything, on my card. The issue I have with the travel insurance downgrade is that the Centurion card fee was more than doubled about four years or so ago with few additional benefits. To now have a reduction in benefits without a reduction in the already very high card fee would be difficult to take as a matter of principle. Compared to the Centurion card fee the Platinum charge card looks an absolute bargain, particularly as it shares many of the same benefits. So for me it would be a logical "soft landing".
Fair enough I am on Plat Edge and I am trying hard in justifying the $900 fee for Plat Charge!
Did anybody who sent an email to Centurion regarding the reported insurance changes actually get a useful reply? I used the Centurion web site contact form late last week and on Monday I received a reply that my message had been received by the "Executive Customer Relations Office", whatever that is, and that one of their "analysts" would contact me shortly. I haven't had any further response from them.
I was told that the Amex insurer had a very bad string of claims from volcanoes erupting, flights stopping and / or weather related events.
I plan to stick with Chubb for travel cover.
