Changes to Hilton Premium Club

Thank God I did print out the ACCC Letter and attachment (and highlighted the relevant paragraph in the submission), because at check out this morning, the CSA wanted to charge my MacBank/HPC CC. I dipped into my FF bag, brought out the letter, gave it to him sugesting he check with the FOM. He disappeared behind the wall and came back apologising. Still doesn't instill me with confidence as this is the second time in as many visits.

Can't make heads or tails of the team at Hilton MEL Airport sometimes. That floating wall also makes me balk. Don't know why, it just seems unprofessional that someone from the front quietly slips behind the wall, then slips out from the wall with info. It's like trying to see the left hand and the right one is pulling rabbits. Eh, just my perception, what does it matter.

They'd better process my double points corectly, or there'll be an erruption at Wilson HQ.

Take it easy - I don't think my folk's home insurance covers for that kind of man-made disaster.

I tried to post this on another thread (Hilton Macquarie Platinum Card) but it's been closed to further posts.

I recently applied for the Hilton Macquarie Platinum Card but have been declined. When I rang to follow up, no useful information was provided. The only comment was about different credit criteria for different (Macquarie) cards.

I stay at Hiltons quite a bit, and believe that this card would be useful for use in Australia, mainly for the extra discouint.

I've had the same employer for many years and have not changed my residential address for some years. My gross earnings are more than 3 times the minimum requirement for this card.

When I checked a copy of my credit report from Dunn & Bradstreet, there's no record of anyone even accessing my credit report.

Other information provided to Macquarie on the application was consistant with similar credit that I have received elsewhere in the past.

Does anyone have a similar experience or who can offer some suggestions, please?

It may be worthwhile getting a copy of your Veda Advantage report as well.

I am not sure anyone here would be that familiar with Macquarie credit criteria, but things may depend on how many other cards you have, when you applied etc.

I had the same issue when first trying to obtain my card and was dealing with people who had no knowledge of accounting. I obtained a letter from my accountant and basically gave up after they offered me a lesser amount. I accepted what they gave me, but the only thing I use it for is the Hilton 20% discount, so just paid off the card fee and I get $0 bills.

About to use it again for my night at MEL Airport on 16th Jan.

I hadn't thought about the Veda credit report. I'll do that.

I have had balance transfers during 2010, to zero/low rate card offers. Maybe I should have cancelled the cards that they have replaced and that now have a zero balance outstanding. This could be it.

That was how I was wanting to use it, also. I wasn't concerned about the limit. I need to check on the other credit report to see if it could set alarm bells ringing for a credit provider. Macquarie Cards would not provide any useful information regarding credit criteria when I rang them.

Exactly. I've used mine exactly once since I joined at the 11th hour (end of April, I think) - and that was because I pulled the wrong card out of my wallet. I don't think I'll be renewing.

I received my new $99 stay card and two member for a stay cards in today's mail. But I paid the $275 annual fee today. In other words, I got all the benefits sent to me for another year without actually paying for it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Not to me.

My card account was charged the $275 a couple of week ago - I expected that. The new 'pack' arrived yesterday.

Hmm. I've been toying with the idea of looking seriously at PC for a while and finally sat down, read this thread and also the new Hilton Macquarie website.

Am I missing something or is the CC bit of the deal fairly pointless and can reasonably safely be ignored? I've skimmed over the Hilton FAQ and the bank T&C and it seems to me that for $295 I join the club and potentially benefit by many times that mount with accomodation + food + drinks at 20% off.

Macquarie 'points' are not explained on the website and I suspect can safely be ignored.

I've got some hilton bookings for later in the year already ... if I applied and was accepted for this card now, would I be able to retrospectively claim a discount on those stays do you think?

Realistically, you could ignore the credit card portion (and I suspect a lot of people do). You just need to present it at check-in, but do not need to charge the stay to the card.

As the discount is applied at check-in, I can't see why you couldn't apply it to existing bookings.

I have a member for a stay card that you're welcome to use if you'd like to try the program out first. Bascially it means you're a member of the program for that particular stay so you would have the 20% benefit for everything. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Just out of interest are the Member for a stay cards still the same as previous years?

AFAICT they look slightly different in appearance. I still had one card from the old HPC days (it was supposed to be taken off me, but no one blinked).

Considering there are no expiry dates, though......

I want to stay at Hilton Canary Wharf for about 10 days from May 29 th.
Is there any way to get the price down from £269 a night.
Apparently the 40% promo requires a 14 day notice period so I miss that offer.
I am a Hilton Honors member.
