Changes to partner earns on QF

Saw this headlined on AusBT's FB post "Qantas to revamp how you'll earn FFPs on partner airlines" and immediately thought "enhancement" :-( however whilst the point earn could well be enhanced, SCs on some routes - the example is CX to Europe - is actually increasing.

It looks as though at least some of the criticism of QFF penalising those where QF no longer fly is starting to pay-off.

As nlagalle states: the devil (will be) in the detail.

However ... the increase of Partner SC earn still doesn't fully compensate the lack of QF services.

For example, QF MEL-LHR in J earns 280 SCs.

Currently, QF MEL-HKG in J; CX HKG-LHR in J earns 200 SCs. In future this will earn 240 SCs.

Doubtless, this will be put down to the vagaries of the zonal system - can anyone enlighten as to what this would have earned prior to Fairer and Simpler? Not the same route, but MH via SEA earned 280 SCs once-upon-a-time.

This is pretty significant. It will be interesting to see who wins and loses as a result of these changes.

I have an upcoming booking on Sri Lankan from CMB to LHR. It looks like my SC earn will actually increase from 80 SC to 120 SC on this route. Does anyone know if the date I made the booking will mean I still get the old (lower) amount of SCs, or will I be able to benefit from the increase having already booked months ago, but flying after the changes come into effect?
 
Guess it's time for me to try and update my QFF calculator.

They only gave about a month and a half notice of the changes. Seems a bit short, unless the changes were not deemed material enough?

This was my first thought too. But will the Qantas online search engine cooperate in bringing up flights for itineraries to, say LHR via HKG....?
 
The change is absolutely appalling with regard to MH flights.
On flights from Australia to Malaysia and or on to Europe, all premium fares - business and first -will be regarded as flexible economy.
That is completely unfair and unreasonable.
Especially when PAX in Perth are forced to look to MH & CX for flights into Asia as QF only has the service to SIN.

There is a definite reduction in AA flights within the USA up to 400 miles.

In first, currently 40 SC, after Dec 1, 30 SC.
 
Simpler and fairer? We went from one table for SC earn to how many pages now to be able to work out which one is applicable??

Russia seems to have been completely expunged from earning tables... unless I'm missing it? There are definitions for 'Europe'; 'Western', 'Northern' and 'Eastern' Europe... none of which include russia... guess it comes under 'all other flights' based on distance.

I guess it means that Russia is now in the "other" category and should earn by distance in miles.
 
Disgraceful. Appalling way to treat MH flights! As long as intra Asia MH J is unchanged things should be OK though

If it's any consolation, there's no such effect (subject to new earn rates) to the popular MH J runs.

Whilst "not as bad", QR earning classes are gauged one level below their actual class of service.

I wonder if we can get credit for such earn based on original booking date?

If the flights are within three months (of this announcement date - noting that QFFF have not formally been notified yet), I'd say you have a pretty good claim to earn under the existing table.

True, aussies still have to get to Asia to start the intra asia MH run though.
And the option of VA to DPS or HKT will disappear when TT take over in March 2016.
