The view up top is rather good too - cleaning the glass would help

But modern art also eludes me

Yes. The artist sold his, ummm, ****. For the same price as gold. Sigh.

This masterpiece was produced by several naked ladies doused in paint rolling around.

Fantastic to be watching this with so many nationalities watching the true last leg. Two Brits next to us very nervous.

Hasn't that challenger been amazing - all by himself.

And its done. Bring on the Champs Elysees.

I was going to suggest the Picasso gallery and also the Dali one but maybe they are not up your alley. There is also a small Monet gallery which is interesting. So much to see and do. Love the pics too - enjoy the spectacle tomorrow.

Loving your photos.
Especially the food cough. The French present their food so beautifully, even at their markets.
And a well earned wine at the end of the day in a little carafe is perfect!

We then walked to Center Pompidou. After the Louvre we loved this gallery which surprised me. Very quiet, respectful and far from the madding crowd.
Nice restaurant on the top floor as well.;)

There were some wonderful Picasso works in the gallery and it was interesting to read that his more abstract pieces were created when his marriage was under stress. Literally doing his head in I guess. I'd like to go to Givenchy and see Monet's garden.

Ive worked out we will be in Tuilleries Gardens to see the race. The pelaton circuits 9 times at this area which is the base end of the Champs Elysees. With my super zoom if we can get to Place Concord I will see what kind of blur we can get. We can also walk there from the Hotel so a bonus. This is around 5ish so will need to get there around 2. Wish us luck.

Giverny (which I think you meant unless the town has changed its name) is lovely. The tiles in the house's kitchen are from memory interesting - green? but right up to the ceiling. There is also a gallery of American artists in Giverny which I enjoyed.

Good luck staking a claim on a good viewing spot. It will be a bit like the Boxing Day sales melee.

Excellent. Was going to ask from where you'd planned to watch the spectacle. We'll be looking out for your AFF banner!

Another vote for Giverny. Fabulous place to visit.

Also not to forget the Musée de l'Orangerie. (Get there early and/or prebook on the joint Musee D'Orsay ticket.)

Pushka I've tried to watch from there before, and the best thing is you've got some elevation but it is a long way away. Place de la Concorde is closed and normally has team cars from La Course. All along there is packed at race time, but you can usually get glimpses. Last year I bit the bullet, paid my money and watched from the stands.
