What happens when two cakes are at the bottom of the handbag which later gets stuffed with baguettes?
Pancakes and a sticky bag. Maybe that's how crepes were invented

After yesterdays long day today we just toured Latin Quarter then took the batobus over the the Eiffel Tour for a picnic. Hence the baguettes.
Interesting sights.
Cute. Parisians love their dogs.

This is the interminable queue for the Ladies near the Eiffel Tower. It winds back up the stairs and out to the right. There is no male queue. They just walk in. Bags were being searched at the door according to MrP who strolled right in.

As I declined the offer to queue having no urgency I waited for MrP leaning against a rail. Bad move. Three police raced around the corner to my right, swooping on an African supposedly selling trinkets on my left. I was the meat in the sandwich. Got pushed by the police and the guy duly arrested and handcuffed and taken off.
Needing a glass of wine to settle the nerves we enjoyed a nice break of people watching before winding our way back to the Hotel for pre dinner prep.

I spent three days in Paris back in mid-1989, staying somewhere near the Gare Du Nord as I recall and was appalled at the amount of dog stools covering the footpath. Plus it was humid after light rain, and the smell......... Unfortunately, the smell of Paris and the total and utter chaos at CDG on departure are my two most vivid memories of Paris. Your TR though has certainly rekindled a desire to visit it again in the next few years. Keep the lovely photos coming.

Actually I've heard it said that the little doggy doos are collected each night and sent to a big factory in an outer banlieue near Versailles to make Andouillette. :)

We were in Paris last week. Didn't trust the Africans selling trinkets but wasn't sure. Your report confirmed our suspicions.

We did witness an attempted bag snatch by one of the group of women walking around with the petitions and asking if people spoke English. Lady fought back and gave her quite a thumping. Mrs sbv and the kids were also shaken up.

Loving your trip report. If you don't mind I will post an early morning photo of the Seine

Re: Chasing the lads in Lycra down the Champs Elysees - and other fancy places to exp

Seems I cant post pictures again this morning.
The girls that ask to sign petitions are gypsies. There was a huge argument amongst them Wednesday with much yelling and shoving. Cleared a large area near Notre Dame.
Not great meal last night. Wanted classic French cuisine and ordered boeuf bourgoigne. I can cook better. So will try RealTMA's suggestion.
Sat in a bar after dinner people watching. Will post pix in a separate post so I dont lose this one.

Uploading pictures tediously through the website.
I cant now see the pictures editing the app but we found this amazing bookshop just crammed with books. I love the little carafes for wine. Awful dinner.
Then an amazing seafood display. And nice lights.

That dinner looks like something QF would serve in Y (sans frittes but probably with rice). It looks a little like Boeuf Bourguignon. The fish on the other hand looks great. We had a fish shop just down from out apartment in Rue L'Epic last time though I can't remember if I bought from it or not. Glad to hear the weather is better than HK. Ready the for the melee tomorrow with the Tour finish?

A fresh cool change last night. The lads in lycra will get a little damp. No worries, today is Louvre and Pompidou explorations.

We are looking forward to tonight's stage on SBS! ;)

If you manage to get into L'Atilier, the Musee D'Orsay (go very early) is just around the corner - well, 5 mins walk. Also the Musee du Moyen Age Musée de Cluny | musée national du Moyen Âge Paris is well worth a visit after lunch.

Very cultured out. How many people flog their feet to death in Paris I wonder.

Visited the Louvre first thing and with the museum pass for some reason you don't even go through security. So an hour faster than buying tickets on the spot. I wonder how many people with prepurchased tickets line up when they don't need to.

It was quite simply packed. And even though a cool day, very stuffy inside.
We walked through Sully then Denon (so ancient and 17-18th century artists. A solid two hour walk and then a needed feet break and a snack.

We then walked to Center Pompidou. After the Louvre we loved this gallery which surprised me. Very quiet, respectful and far from the madding crowd.

But before I go there, more food cough, on the way
