CheckMyTrip Update - No more desktop access or ticket numbers

Others may have worked this out already, but I have just managed to get my missing flights added and corrected a changed departure time.

The trick seems to be to change your profile so your first name matched exactly the name on the booking - whether that is Firstname, Firstname Initial or Firstname Middlename(s). Then add in a new trip using the Amadeus code and it will add a new booking, add in missing flights and update timings when there have been changes.

This aligns with what @bullerdude posted upthread - so thanks for that.

This works for itineraries where the assistant says airlines have asked not to share data. The issue was not the airlines, it was not having a 100% name match.

Still no seats, ticket numbers, class of travel, etc.

A simple survey of users asking the three things that mattered most in the old map would have avoided all this.
I venture that ticket number would not be in the top three for most users of CMT. Most users of CMT in this forum absolutely, but globally where the majority of travellers probably think the PNR record locator is the ticket number (theres an idea - hello Navitaire and IATA One Order) maybe not.

Was notified of a 2 hour time change on a flight on a OWA, notified by QF app, a fe mins later a new e-ticket issued, CMT still shows the old time. It nearly always used to alert me before QF. I'll see how long it takes to update. I also think it's worth adding feedbeack on their FB page.

My CMT app prior to the update had all the correct times/dates.

After the update I've now got old dates and times in CMT. It's like the app is stuck in time several months ago.

Interestingly I've never been notified of flight changes from the QF app (unless it's a QF flight)

The new app does not seem to update automatically. You have to change your name in your profile to match your ticket, then add a new trip and add the Amadeus code for the flight you want to update. The new details will then over-write the old ones.

It seems the app is no longer a real time window on the Amadeus system, but is instead a point in time snapshot. This is exactly the problem with PDF e-tickets and CMT used to be the solution.

Correct, I had to add the booking ref again and it updated to the new time. But now I'm trying to work out what the point of the app is.

It is a convenient list of your flight dates in one place which can be handy when booking hotels or filling out visa applications. It's a small value add, but it does mean the app is not totally useless. But it used to be indispensable.

Only Amadeus flights, I think? If, say you have an AA (Sabre) flight in an otherwise Amadeus itinerary, used it to be included via or under the PNR, Qantas (say) would give it?

I was never a user of CMT but now it sounds like TripIt gives better functionality to that you now see in CMT, as TripIt of course includes all you flights ( plus hotels, rentals etc etc)

But I believe tripit doesn't send any change or info notifications regarding the flights unless you pay for pro?

By most accounts above it seems like the notifications are still somehow working

It depends. It usually only sends the flight before and/or after the Amadeus flight.

So if going QF-AA-AA, you'll only get the first AA flight on there.

But then other carriers you might not get any - I've got a QF-QF-HA booking and the HA doesn't appear at all (same PNR) - HA also use Sabre.

Yes, it relies on what you tell it, until within about 72 hours and then only if you are a pro subscriber.

That said, the use and functionality of TripIt far exceeds the old CMT, let alone this heap of junk. I only ever used CMT to check ticket numbers.

Tripit monitors closer to a flight (from day before?).

goddam_ its so funny how cough this app is now.

The trip cards on the home screen don't even show your final destination if you have a conection. You have to go into the trip details to see the legs. i.e. i have an ORD-IST-CAI which just shows as ORD-IST.

Then, if you have a stop over for a few days, it won't show the second portion of the trip either - I have a BOS-HKG and HKG-SYD with two nights between but only the first one shows up on the home screen and I have to go into the booking to see the second leg. I have a CAI-LHR-JFK-BOS, returning after five months, but only the first CAI-LHR leg shows, no return unless, again, I go into the apparently outgoing segment. I get that they just want to keep all legs under a PNR together but this is not a great way of doing it.

I also have a QF booking which I cant add with the PNR, and can't even add by emailing them. No issues on the previous app version.

Changing to tripit I think.

HA will be moving to Amadeus, planned for first half of this year I believe.

thanks. When I had a mixed AA (Sabre) and Qantas (Amadeus), itinerary ( Qantas ticket), sometimes several AA flights strung together, the itinerary that my travel agent used to give me included both Sabre and Amadeus PNRs for the Sabre flights in case I had to contact Qantas about those flights. (Not likely, as the travel agent usually fix everything up, but I was always a just-in-case sort of guy.)

Do you know how that worked? How was the Amadeus PNR generated against the Sabre booking?

For my OWA at the end of last year, I had 2x QF, then 4x AA (domestic), then a couple of QR & JL and one more QF.

Obv this was using the old CMT, but I just put in my QF/Amadeus PNR and it showed all the flights for the whole itinerary. In fact, that is where I worked out the AA/Sabre PNR for the flights with AA as CMT worked it out by itself and displayed it next to those flights.

So I guess Amadeus generates its own PNR for Sabre bookings on the same ticket - which makes sense (although not necessarily when you consider what they've done to CMT!). I was wondering if my TA had to do something to get it to generate it, but no.

Correct, well the QF partition of Altea, when the info is sent from AA to QF.

Once had a VA/VX/DL booking made by an agent using Amadeus, so had 4 different relocs. None of the carriers could see the entire itinerary only what was given to them by Amadeus to enable them to do their part re carriage and interlining.

In your example though you've got Amadeus - Sabre and back to Amadeus.

If it's just Amadeus - Sabre (or vice versa), in my experience you only get the first (or last) Sabre flight on Amadeus.

None of the carriers could see the entire itinerary only what was given to them by Amadeus to enable them to do their part re carriage and interlining.

👆This!

The way the QF website works is also a mystery - some oneworld airlines, your booking will appear automatically if you add your FF number to that airlines booking - for example - any BA booking containing your QFF number will automatically show up, without having to add it to QF (and not a single QF flight is needed).

I've got an AA booking including a BA codeshare (JNB-LHR-SEA) and while the booking is viewable on BA, it doesn't show up on QF. The BA flight shows on (the old) CMT, but the AA flight doesn't.

This is why you need something like TripIt that will work across all systems.
