Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

To be clear, is this the card that begins 431239?

I got mine in the mail a week ago. I applied after 28 Degrees changed their tact on 'cash advances'.

Also, to double-check: if this is indeed the card, does it offer similarly awesome exchange rates on cash withdrawels overseas (ie. pretty much market rates rather than several per cent worse than market)?

Yes thats the card, and you can expect rates close to XE or similar, ie mid market.

Mine turned up in the mail last week, along with about 3-4 extra mailings with the one off activation pin, telephone pin, T&Cs, Welcome to Citibank letter. I would like their printing and mailing account!

Start saying hello to lots and lots of paper mail from Citi.

For each and every payee you add to your pay others list, you get a mail for the code and a mail confirming you added a new payee. I really wish they save paper.

Why no mobile? It doesn't cost anything to receive an SMS so that is easiest...

Have been using the card to withdraw in Italy and France (still in Paris). Have made more than 7 withdrawals, all without operator's fee. I think it is not easy to find one that charges fees (found one so far but forgot the name).
The Deutche Bank ATM in Rome is the only machine allowing more than 500 Euro per withdrawal ( I tried 700).

What sort of conversion rates were you getting? Pretty much market rates?

One might not be using their 'home' country SIM.

If you make it clear to Citi that are adamant the mobile access code is of no use to you they will send you a code key generator. (Eventually )

If you have a smart phone and download the app, it can generate the 6 digit code and does not need internet/wifi. But first you need to resolve the password issue.

So signed up on Thu. Did all the online identification stuff (which has worked for me on every other service) but it isn't instant. Tells you if you don't here back within 48 hours then you need to do over the counter.
Just poor that this isn't automatic

I got the same message, but was all good.

YMMV - for me the online ID was suffucient.

This happened to me too. After 48 hours, I hadn't heard anything so I rang them to enquire whether I really need to have my ID checked given I was already a Citibank customer. I was told that it was all approved on their end and another day or two passed before I got the 'Welcome to Citibank Plus' email.

Re: 28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/

This is just a bank account so approval shouldn't be an issue for anyone. I will make sure I have this in preparation of 1 Jan when 28Deg goes to ****.

Yep me too. But there is an extra step involving the signature that I forgot to do, so still waiting on the card.....

Just to give a few data points & a comment on the Citi Plus debit card that we used in India earlier this month. The Citibank ATM rate at Delhi airport on 4th Nov worked out at 58.258 inr, 6th Nov State Bank of India 58.479, 8th Nov HDFC bank 58.776 (inc 200 rupee fee in calculation-only 1 imposed by an ATM this trip), 12th Nov SBOI 58.424inr, 13th Nov SBOI 58.428, 15th Nov SBOI 58.561, 20th Nov SBOI 57.960.
The DEL ATM had a limit of 40,000 Indian Rupee, the SBOI ATM's had a transaction limit of 10,000 rupee but had a notice that multiple transactions were allowed if you required more ( we did 4 transactions in 1 session). Also an adjustment we had to make was the ATM's expected us to insert the card, quickly extract it & then feed in the PIN-people in front of us at DEL had struggled with this as did we 1st up

11Nov 0.694058
08Nov 0.696000
07Nov 0.696884
06Nov 0.70031
05Nov 0.69689
05Nov 0.69509
04Nov 0.690846
04Nov 0.68668

These rates come from Euro drawn divided by cost as per Citibank Statement. Some duplication of dates (the day where conversion took place) could be due to time at withdrawal (Italy & France).

Note: Rates do fluctuate during the days.

Without having a look at historical exchange rates in the market on those dates I would guess that these rates compare very favourably.
