Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

This is my "go to" card now for overseas cash withdrawals; I use the 28 degrees MC for foreign credit card transactions....for some reason Citibank offered me 10000 QF points to open this account last year, and what is the saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"?

I got the same, haven't used the card since but with an Europe trip coming up have the 28 degress and this at the ready!

Just a heads up to everyone, I have a Citibank plus visa debit card which has been an awesome way to get cash out OS, no ATM fees and pretty much the XE exchange rate with no added fees. Well I got an email the other day from Citi saying there was an update to there fee schedule effective August 23, so I had a read. It appears they are adding a 2.5% fee to all international transactions, cash withdrawals and purchases. Dam!

Has anyone else read/know about this? Looks like I will have to get rid of the card if true.

Actually ignore that! I just reread the fee changes and it appears the Citibank Plus accounts are excluded from the 2.5% foreign transaction fee! I guess I am always sceptical when I receive an email from the bank saying we are changing your fees!

Phew! I applied last week and are just waiting for the card to arrive. Would have tossed it on receipt if that were the case.

Received a card last week (to use in conjunction with 28deg) and yet to activate it.

That status would have remained if a fee were introduced.

You scared me Tavelislife :)

I will be using my citibank plus account significantly over the next 2 months.

Sorry! It was just that I have been using the card recently a lot over in Europe and was thinking to myself that it was 'too good to be true' and how much longer can it last so when I got the email and starting reading through all the fees and saw the 2.5% thing I though that was it!

Ya I got that email as well, and surmised from the changes link(there were two links, 1) link to changes being made ie. the deltas and 2) link to new fees schedule), that it was all to add a new product to their offerings, and all the relevant fees associated with that new product(some term call deposit or something similar if I recall correctly).

That line that states 2.5% fee to all international transactions, cash withdrawals, purchases has always been there for all their other offerings, and its always had the exception "except for the Citibank Plus Transaction Account", so no need to worry!

Does anyone know what the deal is in NZ? What ATMs can be used fee-free? Westpac as in Aus? I notice that NZ doesn't show up on their website so I presume they don't have a banking licence there?

Are there any Citi ATMs in NZ?

Thanks, JV

I used any random ATM in New Zealand. They don't have operator fee there.

I used Westpac. No fees.

Greetings! So is this card Citibank Plus Visa Debit card still working with all the advantages quoted on mid 2012?
or did Citi do a shifty after attracting new account holders?

Say I rushed down to Aust Post tomorrow, and got ID'd...how long estimated to get the Card in the hand (Perth metro)? Flying Berlin 30 Aug.

Late last month I applied online Fri Noon and it was approved Tue 4pm. I received the card that Friday - so one week all up.

IIRC, I was able to do ID checks online at the time of application (Driver Licence, Medicare and/or Passport for verification).

I have hope, then. I gave the full broadside of INFO just like you. Thanks for your encouraging post.

Well, they didn't accept me online, but once I ID'd, things happened fast. I even got the Cards express mailed, and the PIN expedited by visiting their office in Perth. So 7 calendar days from the ID, i was transferring money into the Online account. Money showed up 24 hours later.

Thanks for your help.

Has Citibank recently changed their scripts? Today I got greeted with "how can I make you smile today?". I had plenty of sarcastic answers but held back... ;)

Then at the end she said "Just to let you know, we are working to improve our customer service and won't stop until you are satisfied". People been complaining?

Haha yes I agree that overseas call centres can be quite robotic and script driven (Hello Virgin rep take note ;) )

I've been a Citibank Citigold client for many years now and any issue I've ever had has been swiftly dealt with.

I don't know if that service extends to everyday clients but Im really happy with Citibank!

Made an overseas transfer of Euro100 from Citibank plus account to Bank of Ireland on the 11/9 but the transaction came thru on the 13/9 and recorded as such.

I received one single charge of A$145.22 for Euro100 transferred. The average rate on the 13/9 was 0.6969 (I could be wrong as the rate was going yoyo during the day).

Unfortunately , Bank of Ireland levied a Euro 5 charge for the transaction.

5EUR is cheap - lots of banks charge 15/20AUD equiv... This obviously isn't something that Citibank can control.

The time difference with the transfer was because it's a non citibank account. The time delay may have been with the receiving bank rather than Citi

Yes but I am not too sure if that means Euro5 per transaction regardless of amount transacted or 5% of the amount received by BOI.

In under a minute I found it
For transfers received in Euros
Under 65EUR = free
65-150EUR = 5 euro
150 - 1500EUR = 7.5 EUR
Over 1500 = 12.50 EUR

For transfers received in another currency
Over 65EUR is 5EUR per payment
