Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

Thank you all for your assurances!! I did recall reading about the Citiplus account being free of the 2.5% forex fee (which was the whole point of applying for the account in the first place), but I started to doubt myself when the CS rep repeatedly insisted even when I point blank asked her whether she was sure that there was a charge...I unfortunately didn't have the Schedule of Fees and Charges handy with me during the call. Fortunately though I could rely on all your experiences for a definitive answer. Thanks again! :)

Ignore their staffs' response, I strongly doubt they know what they are talking about. Maybe they don't even know which bank they are working for.

I'm a Citigold member so I only get their premium staff so haven't experienced the usual staff that service most customers.

But I travel super frequently OS, have researched forex to death and trust me the Citibank plus is the best deal going round. Bye bye 28 degrees.

Now to make it perfect they just need a chip on the Visa Debit :)

someone told me they got one recently with a chip on it but perhaps they were dreaming, ill grill her a bit more about it next time i see it

The Citibank credit cards have them so heres hoping the debit cards aren't far off!!

I asked Citi when I got my Citibusiness card reissued with paypass and she said they were working on Visa Debit cards with chips... Citi is so far behind everyone with this kind of technology...

They certainly aren't the worst... Cough Amex cough...

In the past perhaps that was the case, however now all cards issued by Amex directly have chip and contactless... This was introduced before Citi even had contactless on its Visa cards...

Its their debit card that is now years and years behind most other Visa Debit cards issued in Aus

Same here, no chip, 2 weeks ago

Yeah, I got mine about two weeks ago too and there's no chip.

I had my first experience with the Citibank call centre today and they were actually pretty good. Definitely no worse than my other banks.

I just received an offer to open a Citibank Plus account, and if I deposit $3000 for 2 consecutive months, I will receive 10000 reward points. Sounds like a no brainer for me; and it will be a good backup for the 28 degrees Master card. It is a targetted offer which I need to take up by 31st July.
Ok...finally opened this account, activated online banking and Visa debit card & TF a small test amount into account before I TF the 2x $3000 to claim the 10000 points. QUESTION: do you get any interest (& what %) on the balance with the Citibank Plus account?

No interest. You can link a Savings account to it, but that only earns 2%.

You can link to an online saver, which has a bonus interest rate of 5.7% for the first four months.

Not true, unless you are speaking as of right this week - as I just got my Plat Amex before I left Aus - no chip still :/

thanks; hmm...seems to be 0% :(:(. Looks like it is best to only TF money into the account when it is needed overseas...so I will TF the 2x $3000 in, and then back out again, I guess:)
Well the bank TF into the Citibank Plus account appeared overnight (TF at 430pm yesterday)....so it is very easy and quick to top up this account when overseas. Will only leave a mininum balance in this account. I do not need another bank account linked to this one:shock:

Strange...I can only seem to TF money from the Citibank Plus account to another Citibank account or make a Bpay payment....I can't TF money from the Citibank Plus account to another bank account! Is this others' experience as well?

You can, but you need to set it up first. After logging in, go to Payments and Transfers, one of the options is create a new Payee/BPay, follow that, and you should get an option of Another Bank Account. Set it up through there.

If it's like other Citi accounts, you need to go to the payments/transfers and "Add Payee". You will then receive and email/sms with an activation code. I had to do this to add two NAB accounts.

EDIT: LOL. Ozmark beat me by a whisker...
