Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

You can, but you need to set it up first. After logging in, go to Payments and Transfers, one of the options is create a new Payee/BPay, follow that, and you should get an option of Another Bank Account. Set it up through there.
If it's like other Citi accounts, you need to go to the payments/transfers and "Add Payee". You will then receive and email/sms with an activation code. I had to do this to add two NAB accounts.

EDIT: LOL. Ozmark beat me by a whisker...
Geez, Citibank don't make anything easy or obvious....thanks, would never have worked it out myself:confused:. BTW, the one time code to activate the new payee can take up to 90 seconds to arrive!!

Not true, unless you are speaking as of right this week - as I just got my Plat Amex before I left Aus - no chip still :/

It is true - call them and get one... All their cards have chips but it sounds like you were just unlucky if you were reissued with a plain card... Look on the website and you'll see all the pictures have been updated (except the front page)

You'll find that most banks are doing this as a fraud protection now, and make you setup a payee the first time with added security such as an SMS code etc...

Almost no transaction accounts in Australia earn interest, so I'm not sure why you are surprised that the Citibank transaction product doesn't earn interest...

The HSBC one does...;)

The HSBC one does...;)

The 'Day to Day account' offered by HSBC does not earn any interest of note (ie more than 0.25%) until you have $500k on deposit and then it only earns 2%. The basic transaction accounts from ANZ, Westpac, CBA, Nab also don't earn any interest...

The main ones I'm aware of are Cash Management accounts that usually earn less than the official cash rate (and often have limited transaction options), and also Bankwest who offer a transaction account paying 4% interest on the first $5000 in it

Are you a member of HSBC Premier? They offer a PCMA product that earns interest, however this is not a publicly available product like the Citibank Plus account. The interest rate on the CMA is also quite poor so I wouldn't be parking my money in that...

HSBC Day to Day Account 0% up to $4,999, and 0.05% $5,000 to $49,999 is hardly attractive. I managed $0.01 interest on my account last month. ;)

I have Suncorp Metway. $1 deposit, no monthly fee, B Pay, transfer to any bank, all deposits. It's basically a normal bank account but with no ATM card. 3.6% with no deposit requirement. Need an ATM card, add the basic account, which has no fee and no interest.

I've used Suncorp Metway for 10+ years. Happy with them.

Better than 0%;), but seriously I TF my balance to a linked high interest account. We are going off topic here...

Does anyone know what happens if you overdraw the account?

I know there is no overdraw fee however does the interest kick in right away?

I ask as I know the ING direct account gives you 3 days to bring the account back out of debt before they charge you interest.

Have you read page 3 of fees & charges? Under heading "Interest charges for Overdrafts (Including Citibank Plus Transaction Accounts)"?

I had, it says pretty much the same as ING.
ING doesn't state that they give you a grace period however in practice they do so I was curious to see if anyone had a practical experience with Citi

Has Citibank recently changed their scripts? Today I got greeted with "how can I make you smile today?". I had plenty of sarcastic answers but held back... ;)

Then at the end she said "Just to let you know, we are working to improve our customer service and won't stop until you are satisfied". People been complaining?

I dont know about anyone else, but i was one of the NAB Gold Bankers and was annoyed when they changed it...
Whats the catch? None! Just made an account a couple of hours ago and getting my card next week :)

Everyday Accounts - Citibank Australia

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

I too am a former nab Gold banker and was miffed when they changed the rules. But I too now have a Citibank Plus account. I've had it for about a year but never used it, so recently when booking flights in Singapore $ I had to reactivate the account, which was no trouble. It's not the easiest bank account to set up and internet banking takes a while to get going as well.

I used the account & card to make some purchases and was very happy with the exchange rate given at the time (AUD$1=S$1.27). I also called the call centre (which I believe is in the Philippines) to make some inquiries about my account and about how fee free the account was, and I was very impressed with the service. When the operator found out that I was going overseas they asked me what dates and then put a note on my account to state that for that period I will be using the card overseas.

I've found transfers into and out of the Citi account take no more than 1 working day if the transfer is made on a weekday. A Saturday or Sunday transfer will usually be in the other account by Tuesday afternoon.

The only downsides I can see is that the card doesn't have a chip, there are no personal banking branches in Australia (I've checked. All personal banking transactions are made through nab or Aus Post) and internet banking could be set up better. Saying that though, their app works great and is very easy to use.

Try next to the GPO in Brisbane for your local branch, I have done a number of transactions there and there are other branches in other states.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

I was also a nab gold banker and since the change I have opened a Citibank plus. Works exactly the same as the old nab - no transaction fees, decent exchange rate. Only thing is my old nab was a joint account with the wife so we both had a visa debit, with Citibank it is just under my name so only I have a visa debit card. I guess if I cared more I could solve this.

Citibank Internet banking is a terrible interface, but it works.

Another handy feature of Citibank plus, and I use it often is fee free international transfers. Great way to get cash across to my euro accounts overseas. no $ limits...

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

This is a great account, I also find it useful to transfer money overseas for my wife's parents.
