Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

This card is awesome, I've used it so far for 2014, after 28 deg ended their cash advance perk by adding charges on. So I use this card for cash and the 28 deg for purchases.
 
My applic online went through no probs - but I did have Select and 100K on deposit with Citi so no doubt that helped.

FWIW it still fails in some ATMs in China whereas 28Deg worked 1st time every time - but it is what it is.
 
Worked perfectly in Bangkok, Prague & Singapore recently. I then couple with Bankwest zero m/c instead of 28 deg card as I found the 28 deg card more time consuming to get limit increases plus lots of transactions were getting challenged. The Bankwest experience has been much better plus I really like how on Bankwest online you can see the original amount of the transaction in the local currency and not just the convert amount. Makes life quicker for checking of transactions where there are a lot of transactions in rapid succession or where amounts are very similar. The 28 Deg card is now a spare.

Also Bankwest show the authorisation online within minutes of the transaction which is very useful when it comes to keeping track. Why other banks can't also manage this I do not know!

Agree, although I think ING are just as good with the authorization detail. I love their app and the ability to display current balance without login.

Good to know there are others out there who have joined the 21st Century! I guess my acidity was aimed at the big 4 and HSBC (Woolworths).
 
I applied for a new account for my mum three weeks ago in anticipation of her being able to use it for her upcoming trip of two months, which she is leaving on Sunday.

Whilst the online application was fine and we got an application number, the next step to verify her identity online did not work - it simply did not load (basically gave us a 404).

Calls to Citibank ensued and mum ended up verifying her identity by bringing a relevant application to an Australia Post office.

Up to now we have not received the card, even though we were told 5-7 days. Yes, I realise we have just had a string of public holidays, but it is well and truly over 5-7 working days counting from the date of application.

A follow up call was made a few days ago and the reply was that (putting aside all the need to hook mum up to talk; apparently her giving me consent to handle her account on her behalf was misguided) we were stil expecting another 5-7 days! They said they would expedite the application; I'm not expecting Mum to leave the country with card in hand.

If it wasn't a useful and trivial account, I'd be telling the last of their incompetent sorry excuses for customer service officers where they can put their account.

At that stage I would have heading into the Queen St Mall and seen the branch, aka the old fashioned way.
 
Three separate applications at different times over the past 18mths from our household and all had to attend the post office for identity confirmation.

I would have thought my licence, electoral roll records etc. would have been very well established so as to avoid the post office attendance, but no.

How long do you have to front up at the PO? I'm wanting to open one and trying to work out when to submit the app, based on having to go into the PO to prove identity... I will be in town May 24 (morning).

Don't leave it too long Flashback as the Citi back room does muck a lot of processing up when it comes to this card.

For a respectable bank (not a two bit operation) opening a fairly trivial account (an everyday account, not a credit card), this is borderline ridiculous if only it didn't actually have an iota of truth to it.
 
What happened to my work colleague is laughable. He applied about 2 months ago and has his card but no PIN even though he is leaving this weekend. He will get his family to text the PIN to him.
 
As I have a Citibank credit card it needs no ID for my account app, just need to send in a signature. Easy.
