A couple final observations re Friday night's Think Tank:

  1. Exactly which one of you 2 fellow attendees was not pulling their weight? 5 bottles red split 3 ways not even 2 bots ea - what gives?
  2. Given quality of food we experienced can you believe just how quiet the restaurant was? Maybe word leaked of our attendance? Is it just further evidence that the discretionary $ spend by Australian public just so depressed?
  3. Where did I go wrong guys? Was that huge magnum of Moët just not big enough to entice the leggy blonde Swedish waitress to join us?
  4. Thanks for strategic assistance guys - Citibank pts account cleaned out today - well almost - final 500K will go across to VA Wed.
Thanks for attending guys - we should do it again some times.

I think there are two forces at play:
1) Discretionary spend?
2) The bottom end of Chapel (e.g. Windsor) has become a lot more trendy while the top end (e.g. South Yarra) seems to have stalled a bit. If you go down near Windsor train station it's a hub of activity like the La Camera area used to be a few years ago.

FWIW, I am trying to curtail my discretionary spend at the moment given a pending house purchase, and the resulting massive Stamp Duty Bill to pay to our friends in Spring Street.
