Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

I phoned up and was told that if you spend $3000 in one month, you will receive 10,000 points for that month. If you fail to meet the minimum spend for 3 out of the 6 months for example, you still receive 30,000 points for the months you did reach it. Has anyone else been told that's the case?

That's how I understood it to work when reading the T&Cs

I think this is a suitable card for 10 folks I know. No good for ATO but easy enough for 2015 use.

I haven't been told this, but it's the way I originally read the offer. IE. If in one month yo spend the $3000 but in the other 5 months you spend < $3,000 you would get only 10,000 points.

I applied for this one and have had several days of phone tag getting it sorted. Wanted more proof than any other bank I've gone for in the past.

Still not sure if my application has been approved, and if it hasn't been by the 30th, I'm afraid i'll miss out on this one - in which case i'll be telling them not to worry about it!

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

Citibank knocked me back, presumably because of my "below average" credit score. In the 15+ years I've had a credit card I've not paid one cent of interest. Yet that doesn't make a difference and it really annoys me.

I found out their decision over the phone but the letter arrived today. I've marked it 'Return to sender' and dropped it in the letterbox unopened.

Damn banks.

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

I finally got a call back today - wouldn't give me the signature card, but offered platinum. I said no thanks (no Qantas offer was forthcoming).

We are making progress with Citi for our staff...no rejections so far.

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

I applied on Aug 28 and still haven't heard from them...

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

I found a variant of this offer browsing through a list of employee benefits at work. Through the "Citi at Work" program you get the 60,000 points after just the first spend on the card i.e. no need to spend $3k / month, and you still get the first year fee free. The catch is you have to work for a company that Citi offers it to and I'm not sure there's a list. If anyone is interested in trying the link is here: https://citibank.com.au/atwork/credit_cards_signature.htm?P=FGFGF

I plan to apply after I cancel one of my other cards.

Lucky you, that makes it a much more attractive offer! Great find.

I wish all who apply the best of luck. You could be waiting a LONG time for your points. I waited 5 months for mine and had to call them every month. I eventually took to twitter to complain before anything was finally done. Even had to tolerate being yelled at by one of their 'customer service' staff

Hubby is having the same drama now. He rang to complain as was told points (that were due in March) would post on Wednesday . He has now been told they will post on 15th September. Yeah right....

Heg I try to not call Citibank as it raises my blood pressure. Try hard to not call them unless you are redeeming or accessing something special.

Thanks for the advice Heg. I intend to be extremely proactive about making sure they fulfill their promises. My recent experiences with Bankwest suggest that all it takes is a threat to contact the FOS (including showing them a draft of the email that I have already prepared and have ready to sent to the FOS) is a great way of ensuring a speedy resolution to any problems.

I agree entirely, always best to send mail advising you are going to contact FOS which gets dealt by with someone who actually has the power to address your problem than spend time on the phone. Their customer service staff are poorly trained, underpaid and overworked (who wouldn't be surly) and also just don't have the authority to do much.

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

Note that this offer has now expired and appears to have been replaced with this new one:

https://www.citibank.com.au/aus/credit_cards/cards_signatureqde.htm

50,000 points for joining and making any purchase within the first 3 months. But note the $299 annual fee + $49 Qantas opt in fee. This new offer expires 31/12/2015.

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

First problem with Citi Bank may have emerged.

In accordance with the terms of the offer, when I activated my new card on August 18 I opted into the QFF rewards program and was told of the $49 fee.

As no fee had been charged to my account I emailed them to enquire as to why. They tell me that I never enrolled in the QFF rewards program.

After 25 min of me explaining that they had made a mistake and arguing with them, they agreed to manually credit me the 10,000 points for the first month as I had already met the required $3000 spend and enrol me in the QFF rewards program from today (but they claim they couldn't do this retrospectively).

I've asked for all of that to be put in writing. And they've said I should receive it by Tuesday.

My advice to people is to keep a record of everything and to be proactive about chasing them up.

EDIT: And just now I've realised that they didn't ask for my QFF number. Although they did ask for it on August 18 - which they supposedly have no record of. Who knows what will happen next!

I find this sort of thing to be the norm with Citi.

There are many of posts of members (bad) experiences. I'm on my third card and dealing with the call centre can be very frustrating. It's all about perseverance. Never give in. In the end it should be worth the effort.

And, as you say, keep a detailed record of all phone calls.

Very typical of Citibank, my wife had this problem, applied for the Citibank Qantas credit card but they didn't take her no. And then told her it was too late when she did. The threat to take it to FOS changed their mind double quick though!

Hard to turn down the free points though and a good card when you have it.
