Have a couple of work colleagues to get set with the points.
As an aside never think your experience in dealing with Citibank call center is only happening to you.
Generally I am happiest when I haven't called them for months.

my application status has been yo-yoing between "under review" and "conditionally approved" for 4 weeks now

Walk away now.

Never give up!
If you get through you have passed the Citibank Tester university course.

Their way of sorting the wheat from the chaff, perhaps. Although very infuriating.

Then of course you would be ready for Qantas CU CC. My application involved 100 plus pages but it was worth it. Citi was worth it too of course.

More CitiBank ineptitude...

I cancelled my card after just a few weeks because of the extensive problems detailed earlier in this thread.

Today my partner has found that her CitiBank account had been cancelled.

She had a separate account which had been opened for 2 years. So a different account number and a different account name (including surname), but the same address.

Citibank claimed that the accounts were linked and she had contacted them to cancel her account. Utterly untrue.

Now her account will be closed as well.

CitiBank are beyond hopeless. Only a fool would open an account with them.

Yeah, each to their own. I've had some issues but plenty of points too for a fee free card. And I have worked out how to deal with them so as not to be much of a hassle.

My partner received a call the day after this begging her to come back. They even offered her $100 credit to stay.
