Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

First problem with Citi Bank may have emerged.

In accordance with the terms of the offer, when I activated my new card on August 18 I opted into the QFF rewards program and was told of the $49 fee.

As no fee had been charged to my account I emailed them to enquire as to why. They tell me that I never enrolled in the QFF rewards program.

After 25 min of me explaining that they had made a mistake and arguing with them, they agreed to manually credit me the 10,000 points for the first month as I had already met the required $3000 spend and enrol me in the QFF rewards program from today (but they claim they couldn't do this retrospectively).

I've asked for all of that to be put in writing. And they've said I should receive it by Tuesday.

My advice to people is to keep a record of everything and to be proactive about chasing them up.

EDIT: And just now I've realised that they didn't ask for my QFF number. Although they did ask for it on August 18 - which they supposedly have no record of. Who knows what will happen next!
Same with us. Enrolled in the QFF programme and then had to do it again after seeing no feed was charged....."'sorry we have no record of that"
'
I eventually resorted to Twitter with my complaints. They hate that. It was the only time I got any sort of action from them. Hubby has just started the same thing as he is still waiting for his points to post from March. He has also included Qantas in his tweets and they are now getting involved as they are not happy being included in negative tweets about Citibank. It's disgusting that we should have to resort to such measures to get any sort of service from them.

FYI. I suspect Citibank is monitoring this forum.

I had a follow up call today about this matter assuring me that everything had been taken care of an there would be no future problems. I expressed my scepticism, but thanked them for following up the problems.

In relation to not providing my QFF number via the last call they indicated that they already had a record of the number, but the only time I actually supplied it was via the original phone call on August 18, which they claim did not occur.

Hah, love that story, though I think you may be applying the word loosely when you say "they". I think in Citibank there is a vast range of capabilities (with admittedly clumping at one end), almost certainly they did have a record of your first call but the person you were talking to either didn't know where to look or just couldn't be bothered. In that situation people have been known to say just about anything to get a bothersome customer off their back.

Received an email today (with a no reply return address) which contained none of the information I had asked be put in writing, but instead contain a statement that I was eligible for the offer.

Completely unconfident that Citibank will honour their verbal promises.

Me too. I was lied to so often on the phone, that it became a joke. (And hubby is STILL waiting for his points to post...)

Mrscove has had 2 bogus Citibank texts today so be careful that you don't deal inadvertently with a scammer. The first text came at 3.30 am......

..... and this just lulled you into a false sense of security at the beginning, I would think:

24 hrs after submitting application I get an email saying all approved and cards arriving 5 to 7 days later. If this does happen it will be better than any experience I've ever had with any Australian bank.

Apparently so.

Apparently so.

It is stuff like this from Citibank that stops me from signing up Citibank credit card just for any point bonus long long time ago. The only promo worth it from Citi are those Annual Fee free for life cards.

American Express is so much easier to get bonus points. Very quick approval (and possibly not check your income), points posted very fast and you still get bonus points even if you already have existing Amex ..... Current 80000 Qantas point bonus is great and you get a free return Qantas domestic ticket every year:

First statement was issued. There was still no charge for the Qantas program. Points were still being credited to the Citi Bank program. Despite a number our phone calls and emails from them (with no return address) to assure me that everything had been fixed, it simply wasn't. So I've had enough of my time being wasted and have cancelled the account. Means that I lost potentially 10,000 points and $3,000 worth of spending which could have earned points elsewhere. But I'll chalk it up to experience.

For those still onto this program, good luck.

For those others thinking about using Citibank I have one word of advice DON'T!

My wife got her 70K points for the last promo today, it only too 5 months!

I can manage a giggle when reading some of the posts. Only because I've been through all this. Wasn't too funny at the time though.

Had a call tonight from Citibank begging me not to cancel my account. They said that they were sorry to loose someone who had been a customer for 2 yrs and could manually credit the missing 4,000 points.

I've been a customer for 1 month and the missing points were 10,000.

What I heard made me confident that I made the right decision to get out now.

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

Despite the fact my wife had some issues getting the points I actually think the Citi Signature is a great account. I got the bonus points and then transitioned to a fee free account, tell me another card with such a great points earn and is fee free?

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

Thanks for this link kamchatsky. Signed up using it and was approved this week, so hopefully another bonus heading your way.

For some reason the referral thread wouldn't allow me to reply in order to place my thanks there.

Now to wait for my 80k...

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

10 days after cancelling my card because of CitiBanks inept behaviour I got a request to complete a survey detailing my experiences. Gave the full story and got a follow up call. Maybe CitiBank have finally realised they have a problem?

Re: Citibank Qantas Signature - 60,000 bonus w/ $0 Annual Fee - Good for High Spender

Ditto to that.

Such a shame. Wont ever be back to Citibank, so will have to find my points offerings from somewhere else.

Not me or hubby. Experience was disgraceful from the start. Hubby has only just had his points posted after 7 months .

my application status has been yo-yoing between "under review" and "conditionally approved" for 4 weeks now
