It seems as though this has changed today to:

"Apply by 31 December 2012 and new cardholders will receive a bonus 50,000 reward points[SUP]1[/SUP] in the rewards program of your choice when you first spend on your card."

Oh that's a shame...I've got to wait until Sep, nine months from issue of my citi gold business card.

Yes, where have all the good deals gone! Roll on Comprehensive Reporting, below quote is from the Explanatory Memorandum for the new Privacy bill.

The credit reporting industry strongly advocates the view that comprehensive credit reporting will have a positive effect on competition in Australian credit markets. The 2004 ACIL Tasman report stated that, for example, the experience of the US in the 1990s following increases in the types of personal data collected and used in credit reporting saw a ‘a wave of new entrants into the bank credit card market’. The benefits of this competition were said to put downward pressure on interest rates and fees for bank credit cards and encourage the targeting of lower interest rates to low risk borrowers. The breadth of the credit card market also expanded.

i still see it as 80k but it is now a 700 annual fee. Looks like they decided to leave the introductory points rate but remove the introductory (lower) annual fee.

There is conflicting and confusing information in the fine print:

"To be eligible for the 80,000 bonus reward points, you will need to apply for a Citibank Select Credit Card by 31 July 2012, and first spend on your Card by 31 October 2012........... Offer ends 31 December 2012."

My 9m waiting period (due to CBG) ends on 31 Aug but I decided to take the risk.

I applied (using beardoc's link) on 25 Aug and was approved on 31 Aug. Received the card on 6 Sep and made my first purchase same day. The 80K is already showing up in my account. :p

does everyone have the $120k minimum income? Has anyone been approved with a lesser income?

I've got a citibusiness gold (which gives me 3.25pts per $ and I'm very happy with it, but once this special (2pts per $ bonus) is over (end of the year) or I reach my points cap), I was hoping to get a Citi Select. (and maybe consider getting some status on CX Asia Miles.

If you don't care about the 80k points and just want the card, you can upgrade your citibiz gold to a select provided you have the minimum credit limit available. My guess is it's around $30k

Minimum credit limit is $15,000 for Citibank Select

hmm ok, I had a 12500 limit, but had to reduce it to 7500 so that I could get my Home Loan approved :'( *sob.

Ah well, I've got the CB Gold on 3.25pts per $ til the end of the year, so I'm not really unhappy.

I've got my Select card yesterday but intend to speak to Citi and seek 50k reward points before activation.

I received mine about 2 weeks ago and received 80k points after first spend. You must activate the card and spend at least once before they credit the points to your rewards account.
Let us know if you receive 50 or 80K as 80 was the old offer.

Cheers,

Mitch

I think Foreigner may be concerned that he won't get the point as an upgrade rather than a new customer and wants to verify first!

Yes, and I won't incur $700 fee if I decide to not keep card. The letter accompanying card states fee is 'debited to your account on first use of the Account (including Card activation), and then on each anniversary of the date Citibank approved your Account.'

So is this 50k Citi Rewards points transferrable to QFF? And is it also an extra 2,000 QFF a month provided there is card activity?

Citi won't offer points for upgrade. :(

My option is to accept Select, or to cancel CitiBusiness Gold and reapply for Select for 50k points.

They won't let you apply for Select as a second card (keeping the CBG)? Myself and at least one other member here went down this route and both got the Select sign-on bonus.

I had a frustrating time with Citi over the past several days. When I told them I'd rather not take up Select for the moment, that i would stick with CitiBusiness Gold card i was informed credit will re-assess whether I get to keep CitiBusiness Gold. The card I had until now would need to be replaced, new PIN, blah blah. Meh...I decided to activate Select and forget about bonus points.

On the other hand, I'd got 250k points over the past nine months and almost exhausted the cap. I'll make up for the 'loss' of 50k in other ways.

I reckon Amex is more considerate.

That made me think a bit about my upgrade strategy, I think first thing I will be doing is find some (i.e. not the call centre) who actually has some ability to negotiate!
