A problem understanding the T & C is do you read clause 1 in isolation, or in conduction with what I quoted in post #121?

I’m going to guess (cause I haven’t read how that fits into the T&Cs...which is why relying on people on the interwebs is never a fab plan!) that because your quote refers to eligible transaction it refers to whether the spend earns points, not counting towards the $5k min spend. Point 1 refers to counting towards spend threshold, not eligible transactions.

Online chat, for what it’s worth, confirmed that spending on Government spending does contribute to the $5,000 minimum spend but of course you don’t earn the usual points on that spend.
I just hope that’s what occurs in reality.

I've applied, let's see how this goes... they've got 5 working days to get this done!

Disappointing to learn that spend on the linked Diners doesn't count towards minimum spend - I think the Diners doesn't charge an international transaction fee which would be useful for an upcoming large bill I have to pay with an American organisation...

And arrived! So far so good.

Well that was a surprise, given some of the things I've read about Citibank.

On Wednesday applied and uploaded my documents with the application, approved in 2 hrs.

With any luck I'll have my card before xmas, but not too worried and I expect it to be a bit longer to take being posted & in the post at this time of year.

Application process and customer service has been a nightmare applying for this card. Was mid-way through the application and it randomly submitted without having entered assets/liabilities. Called up, customer service rep was clueless. Manager told me the application had been declined, and to have it reassessed I would need to submit documents for EVERYTHING (not just income, but also assets/liabilities etc). Have sent income documents and lodged a complaint.

How did you then submit? Over email? I had a browser error and mine didn't submit either. I can't work out how to do it after the fact!

I called through and was told I needed to send through documents to verify every income/asset/liability I have. Told them there wasn't a chance I was doing this. Only submitted income verification docs.

My advice - call them and immediately ask for a supervisor.

So I now have approval emails and they are mailing the card. I didn't submit any income docs. Strange but I'll take it!

Sounds like you've had better luck than me - I just got a decline email. Weighing up my options.

Don't worry. I got declined and offered the lesser citi card a few months ago. Waited for a while and then got approved. My circumstances are exactly the same. They obviously just have no clue.

Awesome result -
Applied. Approved 1 week later. Met spend. Monthly statement exactly 1 month post approval. Bonus points in my account same day.
@DrRalph - my experience differs to yours :)
Still cant take a trick with Maquarie but. :(

To review, I had a pleasantly smooth experience.

A week from application to receiving the card. Got one phone call to clarify details that I missed on the application.

100k bonus points posted with the same statement once I met the spend.

Met the 5k spend late in month one with some government spend. Will see if points come through with first statement.

Pretty easy process for mine. I didn't even have to provide proof of income / no phone calls etc.
