Coffee Machines

I recently bought a Nespresso machine. I kept it secret because I feared I had become a Double Bay trendy. I was looking for a support group and now am happy I can come out on AFF. I'm an Nespresso owner and I'm proud.

I have two machines. One is the domestic variety ( my 7th) and the other the business version.
I can highly recommend buying the business version milk frother. Much less hassle than the domestic one.
Still he best machines in my opinion

It is I, Leclerc !

I should be getting commission LOL. Just picked up the pods from DiBella around the corner from DJs Village, will report on how they go!

Hmmm interesting... I wonder how that would go down at home ... :p
I was a grinder-brewer, but always seemed to leave a mess - according to SWMBO.

Nespresso had been a source of domestic harmony since its introduction to our household....

Frother and Nespresso BIZ Version.
I have found the frother really good at home as well.

Excitement is building back at the swamp, our Nespresso machine is in transit at FRA, my Italian translation skills are getting better every day :D

Saw an ad in the Sunday paper for these for $5 per 10 box at Woolies:

Piazza d’Oro’s Nespresso compatible L

Since I had a 250 QFF points for $20 coffee purchase offer last week, I decided to grab a couple.

Verdict - they smell nice while brewing but the coffee is lacking in strength - there seems to be less coffee in the cartridges that I get with Nespresso. I have leaned to only use [SUP]2[/SUP]/[SUB]3[/SUB] as much water. It's OK, but I won't be revisiting.

What's your verdict?

Easier and cleaner to do than I thought, but need to find the right style as my normal French press blend is not great as espresso. Also needs to be a Turkish grind, at least Merlo throw in a free coffee with every purchase so it's not costing me too much to experiment. Loving the new machine though, much better Milk system than the old Latissma.

Just for the record. Amazon Nespresso arrived last week.
Stupid me plugged in without using a voltage adaptor...and it blew up.
So whatever money and good price I saved, has been a complete waste (warranty not honored here in Australia, but I knew that when I brought it)

That's very unlucky, the specs state it runs on 220-240V so shouldn't require anything other than a European-Australian adaptor?
I also thought ( incorrectly) it seems that the warranty for DeLonghi appliances is worldwide :(

Where did you buy it from, the Italy source is not an issue since both are 240V, and if you register it locally you should get warranty, DeLongi is global.

Amazon US site. And inside the box there was a big yellow note saying that due to machine being purchased outside of the US that all warranty was voided if any issues relating to power due to different voltage.
Oh well...at least it was cheap.

USA sourced devices are generally designed operate at 110vac. I can imagine what 240vac would have done  ... :(

(FWIW, many phone/laptop/netbook/tables chargers are rated at 110v-250v or similar.)

In many cases, when applying 240V to a 110V appliance, the only part that 'blows up" is the fuse. Its worth having a look to see if there is a fuse that has blown and protected the rest of the appliance. My son bought a guitar amp from USA where the specs said 110V-240V. What he didn't check was that there was a mechanical switch to change from 110V to 240V operation. Consequent "bang" sound when plugged it. A new fuse was installed, switch changed to 240V operation and its all good now.

Well just in time for all the new Nespresso owners, now a chance to rack up EDR points at woolies!ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1347961586.321861.jpg

After a week of them - they are ok and better thn many other option, but I'll stick with Nespresso for now. (The rechargables won't do many favors for domestic harmony.)
