As I mentioned here:After a week of them - they are ok and better thn many other option, but I'll stick with Nespresso for now. (The rechargables won't do many favors for domestic harmony.)

Does not sound like its worth the $2 saving at full price, I live a kilometre from a nespresso store so the availability at woolies is not a factor for me.

We had a SAECO Royal Cappuchino coffe maker for over 7 years, a neighbour purchased it off us, we (well the good woman) now have a SAECO Xelsis and I need a pilots licence to use it :).

Purchased the EN520s from amazon.it.

Thanks Markis10!!
Thanks from me as well! I pulled the trigger on Saturday night.

Excitement is building back at the swamp, our Nespresso machine is in transit at FRA, my Italian translation skills are getting better every day :D
So did mine, machine dispatched Monday evening (MEL time) and arrived yesterday afternoon:

Pretty good, the milk heating and frothing is fantastic.
Domestic bliss at the moment

Interesting, that Nespresso list them for $600: Machines - Latissima+ Passion Red

Still going strong here, the auto-milk thing makes the best hot chocolates for Miss 7 and Miss 9, have even had to increase my milk order :D

Just caught on to this thread, a lot of information on coffee snobs.com.au
I purchased one 4 years ago and never looked back. I went for the Sunbeam cafe series, on to my second one and bought one for my sister. The are the old, traditional style (ie. not fully automated. You still have to froth the milk in a jug and put the ground coffee in the holder. No George Clooney here.)
For information, there is a sunbeam seconds shop on Botany road, where prices are about 50% on Harvey Norman for these machines ($400 as opposed to $799)
Enjoy the coffee!

I'm concerned about the cost of these pods...they look like another cash cow for the manufacturers, a lot like those inkjet cartridges that we are sometimes forced to buy.

Even at the Woolies 50c a capsule that makes if $60 for the 120 coffees. The Nespresso pods are even more $$.

I get 120 coffees from a bag of coffee which I buy for $28.

$60 v $28, I can see why the pod people and George Clooney are laughing all the way to their banks.

I considered along those lines as well, but in the long run we are averaging about 20 a week, so the additional cost is insignificant.

(I restrict myself to two coffees each day - employing a plunger at work for my second)

I do exactly the same, although I go for a third on weekends. Since have the nespresso for the last 6 years, I have found my takeaway coffee needs decline to the extent that I only partake when travelling, so there is a considerable saving there without the mess of an espresso machine, it's also quick by comparison.

Hmmm. 9.30am on a weekend and I'm already up to number 3. Should I be thinking I have a problem?!

No, it's 8.30 here and I am on my third, used to do 6-7 on a morning shift by this time of the morning!

My first employer back in the 80's was of Egyptian origin and we had great coffee 'on tap' day and night.

I did not know how much of it I drank until I left his employ after 5 years and went to a place with a twice a day tea trolley and no kitchen facilities.

Caffein withdrawal anyone?

After those headaches some 25 years ago, I have generally rationed myself to one on wake up and one mid morning. (Maybe having a cup of tea during PM doldrums ...)

I like coffee, but I think I'd be having heart palpitations if I have had that many coffees!

I kicked coffee and diet coke 18 years ago....morphine and heart by pass operation was a bit radical but it worked.
I now know I was an addict.

This was my main consideration when I bought my machine recently and paying at least twice as much for your coffee means the extra paid for an auto machine over a nespresso is easily justified in my opinion. Whether you have 2 cups a day or 2 a week it will pay itself off at some point and that should be well before your machine needs replacing.

I now regret every cup of instant coffee I gave had in my life!

I compute the cost ( time ) involved in clean up. Nespresso is way ahead on cost benefit analysis IMHO but then it matters what value you place on your time

It is I, Leclerc !

Clean up on a superauto isn't that much more than a Nespresso, you still have to clean out the dregs drawer on both. And superauto coffee is vastly superior to both Nespresso and Gaggia pods (I have both just to see the difference).

I'll chime in as another happy and delighted Nespresso house!

As we need to purchase another when I move offices in the next week or two, I shall be looking at the Amazon route - I can assure you... Secondly, where do you buy the business machines? It may be a bit of overkill considering I'm the only one who drinks it in this house, but let's just say that I make up for all three of us.

Go on line.
The advantage (for me) is the greater durability.
Ours gets a solid work out every day.
