Coles gift card offers

The family andye spend a lot at Coles but it's just too fiddly for me for the 4% discount to be worthwhile. Mrsandye's views would be unpublishable on a family website

And that's the main reason we never shop at Coles except for the odd catalogue specials.
Woolworths all the way for us

Woolworths buying/stori ng/redeeming process is ten times better

They get all our business

Was thinking through BettyB's suggestion of AGL (to which I have access)
Only Visa and MC so a bit less on the points-earn compared to Amex
I could consider if there was a similar app to the WW to store the Coles e-GC balances

I've been using Suncorp Rewards and the associated app for buying Coles eGift Cards. They used to offer a 5% discount, but in the past month or so they quietly "Down Down'ed" it to 4%.

Pros:
  • Pretty much instant delivery of e-Gift cards.
  • Others too, eg; 5% off Dan Murphy's (use instead of Woolworths, since they also dropped that to 4%), JB Hi-Fi, Good Guys, Kmart, Target, Big W, Myer.
  • No CC fee (but only accepts Visa and MasterCard).

Cons:
  • Need to be eligible for Suncorp Rewards (through GIO insurance in my case).
  • Balance tracking is by manually updating in the app. Not too bad once you get into the habit of doing it.
  • Doesn't accept Amex or Diners cards.
  • There are weekly and annual purchase limits. eg; Coles is $500 per week / $26K per year and JB Hi-Fi is $1000 per week / $20K per year (I fell foul of that when I wanted to buy 3 x $500 in one go to pay for Mrs 2905's new mobile).

Down to 4% :( This was my go to EGC source. That’s bad news.

Suncorp, even with the reduction to 4%, is just easy and quick as. if your stuck reaching limits, I would just use another family members account

Uber cards are, in effect, $38 getting the 2000pt offer and the $2 discount the egift gives you.

I would do good guys concierge, but with the month long delivery wait, I couldn't be bothered.

Saw in store yesterday that the $50 perfect gift card has a fee of $5.95. So with just 1000 bonus points worth $5 I'm loosing $0.95 buying this card?

Yes. But:

1) You might actually want the flybuys points and be happy to pay the 95 cents for them.
2) If you use a Coles gift card purchased at a discount this would be an additional saving.

Starting Wednesday August 28, collect 2000 bonus flybuys when you buy a $50 or a $100:

Uber
Ticketmaster
Hoyts
or
Netflix gift card

Also get 2000 bonus points when you buy a $100 Coles Gift Mastercard

Limit once per account.
Hey Dr Ralph, do you know how long this runs for? Targeted? I haven't seen it anywhere... Cheers

It was in the usual weekly catalogue. So normally that runs from the Wednesday to the end of the following Tuesday. Given this started on August 28, it would therefore have ended September 3.

It was definitely not targeted.

Damn! Now I have a reason for reading the weekly catalogues!

Or the card you use at Coles earns sufficiently more points than you would earn at the place you redeem the myperfect (even better if that place has a CC surcharge)

spoke to support, got put on hold for 45 mins while they checked,
they cant work it out, so more investigations required
