Coles gift card offers

It's on again! 10% off $100 and $250 Coles gift Mastercards (note the recent concerns about these cards being 'hacked' - my advice is that there is now some risk with these cards. Buy and spend immediately is what I plan to do. But I'll certainly still be buying these).

I thought (hoped) this offer might come along soon as my local Coles suddenly had quite a few $250 gift cards on display two weeks ago.
Usually they have reasonble number of $50 and smaller stocks of $100 and $250.
Also note I said "had"... all $250 cards disappeared when I checked on the weekend 🤔

An update on this:

My call back came yesterday.

I was advised they were very aware if this issue. The agent gave the impression they'd had plenty of calls.

He went on to say the disputes team had yet to decide if refunds would be processed back to the card , or be a direct deposit in my back account.

He then requested my bank account details and said he's entered them in the spreadsheet. Sounds secure. 🤔

"If you don't see either a bank deposit or email confirming the refund to the gift card by next Friday, give us a call back."
Given this offer is back again, an update on my scenario:

I'm yet to get my money back.

I called again this morning and was told refunds would be starting today and being posted to back accounts.

Nothing by COB.

The security vulnerability on these cards is significant.

My experience has been that the effort required to get your money back is both frustrating and time consuming.

As per the advice from @Dr Ralph, if you are buying these, I'd recommend having a plan to spend them promptly.

Sounds like someone has hidden them, either in the cupboard or behind other cards; so that they can grab a bunch as soon as they go on sale.

Someone at my local store does this whenever these promotions come around. And no, it's not me!

Or they were all bought by Zip customers at weekend, who got 10% cashback. If only the offers coincided….

... or stocked up in-house on non-promo cards before next promo?

Seems to be lots of stock of the $250 cards at the stores I have had a look at. Hopefully that holds up for a while once we get underway tomorrow morning.

17 x $250 bought across 4 stores this morning. Not bad for 45 minutes work

My bete-noire Coles only let me have 2. The store has always been officious and mysteriously invented a $500 value limit

Lots of stock in my neck of the woods

One of the Coles staff said to me that they had had a number of people previously trying to buy CGMCs with CGMCs (inception) and that is wasn't allowed or fair
Post automatically merged:

Hopefully everyone uses them up before they are compromised and used to by Google Play credit.
Both of my favoured redemption methods have limits of 4-5 a day so fingers crossed

We will see whether it is possible/enforced this time around. I have a plan if staff do curtail it but hoping not to have to use it.

First store was out due to recall..... will call when stock in.
Second store one on shelf and others from box inside the cabinet... asked how many I wanted... did not press
This hack is only if they get them and replace card right? Can't be compromised any other way????

I am in a position where I have enough bills for inception not to make much sense (and I like the Amex Edge points too)-in my circumstance, it does feel like a waste of the giftcard's potential

Re Coles gift mastercard: be aware these do not activate instantly. IE. You will not be able to use them straight away.

My experience is that it may depend on the store or some other system type issue. I have absolutely had them activate instantly in the past (or at least in the 5 minutes between payment and going to use one). Some took around 2hrs last time though and it appears my first batch this morning are taking that long as well. Whether the delay is now across the board I couldn’t say but that is my previous experience anyway.

5* ATO payments a day on my account + the same on my wife's ought to do the trick.
Is there a post detailing the process to pay ATO.
Given the hassle trying to get $1000 of apple cards , I am not sure if the rewards justify the effort
