Re: CBA AMEX offering

Better earn rate is the sweetener for their poor service...I would definitely keep my CBA if they retain 1:1...I could careless about services when I can get more points (Which earn me multiple better service class of tickets)

Re: CBA AMEX offering

My only caution here is that over time I have seen and heard of much worse service from Citibank than I could ever imagine from CBA.

OH SOOOOO true. Citibank's service is without question laughable. The CBA is red carpet compared to Citibank.

Re: CBA AMEX offering

I have CBA Plat Visa from the Wealth Package Plus (no longer available, but they let me keep my Plat card for the same annual fee as Wealth Package). I prefer this card than my fee free Citibank Plat Visa because it's linked to Netbank (easier to manage with my other CBA accounts).

After this change, I'm not so sure anymore. I think I will start using the Citibank Plat Visa from Feb onwards and let the CBA Plat Visa and the new Amex gather dust until I discontinue using Wealth Package.
Like most people I don't need another Amex as I prefer my RM Amex -> SPG -> AA.

It's really a disappointing decision by CBA to half the QFF transfer rate for Plat card.

Re: CBA AMEX offering

I will use the Amex as soon as it arrives in Oct and get 3 QFF per $1, then dump the card in the bin in February.

Also the new cap has been raised with restrictions imposed.

From 0-150,000
MC: 1 point per $1
Amex: 3 points per $1

From 150,000-250,000 (Or 200,000) Can't remember what she said...
MC: No points can be earned.
Amex: 1 point per $1

Re: CBA AMEX offering

So is it back on after it was put on hold?

Yep, they did a review on the dual cards and unfortunately the decision stays...
That's why they delayed the notification letter... which we will be getting these 2 weeks...

Guess all good things come to an end?!

Re: CBA AMEX offering

Was told that effective 23rd October the duel card (CBA Amex/Visa) will take place, however, the earn rate for QF points for the CBA visa will changed from 1.2.10 from 1:1 to 2:1. I

I also heard this today from someone in the CBA!

Not happy, as I use my CBA Visa at places that do not accept Amex, and giving me an ON QF FF point value.

At 0.5 points per $1 I will be making more efforts to not shop at establishments that do not accept Amex.

Re: CBA AMEX offering

Yea, I received the changes notification in the mail along with my statement today.

Guess I will now use NAB's Visa for the meantime...0.66:$1 is nowhere near 1:1 but it is still better 0.5:1.

Re: CBA AMEX offering

The new card actually looks pretty cool but it does not come cheap - new annual fee is $250 (With package) or $280 (Without)...

So expensive...and more importantly, CBA rarely waive its annual fee...my card is free until Sep 2010 and after that...m.....:(

Re: CBA AMEX offering

They do look good indeed!!!!

For Amex
"Earn points faster on your new Commonwealth Bank American Express Card with more points per $1 spent, and enjoy a range of new privileges and rewards"

For the VI/MC card:
"Accepted at more than 29 million locations worldwide, your new-look Commonwealth Bank MasterCard or Visa will earn 1 Commonwealth Awards point for every $1 spent"

So the VI/MC is still 1 award for $1 but no mention of the Amex offering yet....

Come back here in October to find out more and to access tools that help you calculate the points you can earn.

Well whatever it is, I'm guessing it will eventually become 1 on Amex = 1 QF.

I can't say I'm so endeared to their looks, maybe because I got a free MC debit card from CBA quite recently in case any further $1 TT flights appear (ironic since they're the flights you'd NEED the insurance on). The debit card looks is somewhat similar and I find myself hiding it beneath others.

So it appears one needs to request their new joint card. I don't like agreeing to something which doesn't really say what I'm agreeing to... but guess we don't have much choice in the way of changes to T&C.

.

well AMex 3 points per dollar and visa/mc 1 point per dollar.

While the earning rate is not changed, the redeem rate will be changed effectively in Feb 2010. from 1 point:1 QFF to 2 CBA point: 1 QFF...

So to sum it up...after Feb, Amex will earn 1.5 FF / 1$ and visa/MC 0.5FF/ 1$..

Those info are on the web... no confusion anymore.

Thanks  but

0.5 QF points per $1 spent with a VISA

As per my other post, I will be like a "good little point tart" and avoid Visa only places.
