This is what I mean

I mean mine isnt used.

23rd of October is the launch date of the Amex card looking at the notice I received.

What IS interesting is that the next set of changes occur on the 1st of Feb 2010.

So if I am reading this correctly

Between the 23rd October and 1st of Feb 2010:
Amex 3 points per $1 spent
WHICH as I am enrolled in Qantas Direct Earn
Will be transferred at a 1 for 1 rate?

Do I smell a good promotion rate here for a few months of usage of 3 QF points per $1 ??:lol:

Yes, its a promotion here...3 Amex from NOV (They don't send out the card until early Nov) until end of Jan...so 2.5 months 3:$1 promotion but after that, it renders useless... LOL (Because the new annual fee and points cap)

So its good for those people who ALREADY have CBA credit cards and provided their point cap has not yet been reached... LOL

Looks like I will abuse the card until 10th of Feb for 3 QF points per $1 then cancel it.

I am not interested in 0.5 QF points for $1 for VISA at $250 per year.

Neither am I. My annual fee of $200 fell due this month and so I called to cancel the card - it wasn't being used, anyway. I had to laugh when the card closure rep said to me, in an effort to spell out the advantages of the new card structure:
"even though Amex transactions do sometimes attract a surcharge, you even earn points on those surcharges!"...

They're just too good to us!

 That is a new one "earning points on the surcharges"

As I have said I only have very small amounts that go through on my VISA card nowadays and to earn 0.5 QF points per $1 for $200 per year annual fee is simply not worth it for me.

I ditched Origin Energy last month for my Power & Gas so that removed the last big transaction on my VISA card each month.

The only other one left is HBA who do not accept Amex.

I will miss my high credit limit on the VISA though

Called CBA C/S today to organise an Amex to accompany my rarely used CBA M/C. The person I spoke to said that it would earn 3:1 with an additional point per $ untill Feb.
This doesn't sound right, but I certainly won't complain if that is the case.

I was wondering what to do for my future Amex spend, after first the Earth Plat and now the Krisflyer 3:1 drawing to a close.I'm not in a hurry to return to my Amex MR now that it is 1.25:1.

Interesting - Considering the amount of $$ I need to spend in NOV-JAN this could be a VERY nice little earner for me.

I am holding back on spending on my Westpac KF card for a bit to see if CBA delivers 4 points per $1...

HMmmmmmmmmm

How do you justify the annual fee too?
It is amazingly high and have cap (Even on Amex). LMAO!

i justify it by not paying it....

its included in the so aptly renamed 'debt' (wealth) package on my mortgage...

jakob.

are we talking about the platinum in here???
coz the last time i checked, the wealth package is only waiving credit card up to gold.

Well it is definitely platinum and I haven't been paying for it.... don't know if its a mistake or of they have discretion in what they offer...

But thinking back to when i got my mortgage it was definitely platinum that the guy from commbank said would be included in the wealth package..

I haven't looked to see if he was wrong...
