Don't forget that Citibank also has an Emirates card that earns 1.5 points per dollar too. Certainly another option for those not particuarly tied to an airline.
After the Earth Plat and Krisflyer promotion this is a huge disapointment. I was looking forward to another 100k + of bonus points, 5000 on plat is hardly worth getting out of bed for
Do you have a link to where it actually says that on their website? I've just tried to search for about 10 mins with no success (lol).
Called CBA C/S today to organise an Amex to accompany my rarely used CBA M/C. The person I spoke to said that it would earn 3:1 with an additional point per $ untill Feb.
I just checked the CBA website for any updates on this card and found this
Terms and Conditions: 1 bonus Commonwealth Awards point will be credited on all eligible transactions in accordance with the Commonwealth Awards Program Terms and Conditions available at commbank.com.au. The promotion period is 2 months from the date of the letter that accompanied your new cards. The bonus points will be credited to the primary cardholder account as a lump sum within 6 weeks from the end of the promotion period. Once credited to the primary cardholder account, the bonus points will appear on the Commonwealth Awards website and the following Credit Card statement. You will be ineligible for the bonus points if the primary cardholder account is closed, transferred or in default at any time prior to the points being credited to the account. Maximum bonus points available during this promotion are capped at 5,000 (Platinum), 3,000 (Gold), 1,500 (Awards).

I was not sure if this will be forever, or only for a limited time? Until Feb 01 only (After that, 3 CBA points = 1.5 QFF points)
Our current Platinum Amex earns 1.5 award points for every dollar - in comparison. So, if the CBA Platinum Amex earns 3:1, then this seems to be a better deal. -After Feb, earn rate will be the same compared to AMEX Plat (1.5QFF per $) but the point cap for CBA is 60000+40000 which is rubbish compared to Platinum Amex. (See my previous post)
On our current Platinum Amex we get one "free" domestic flight with Qantas each year. Does anyone know if the CBA Platinum Amex would offer this same thing? I asked Amex yesterday and they said no flight with CBA. Not sure if this is correct. Again, I have asked bank manager this question. -(Will never offer "Free" flight on any AMEX licensed card, e.g. CBA unless they start to charge you more than 350 annual fee)
There is no way to tell whether Citibank will change their reward rate on its platinum. But then again, Citibank has never had any relationship to AMEX (Perhaps its because of the Diners Club) in any countries. So my speculation is that Citibank will not introduce dual cards system and will be likely to keep its 1:1 rate on its platinum. (Unless they start to make dual visa/diners :mrgreen
Really? Citi doesnt have a relationship with AMEX?
Here are 2 of 7 that are issued in the USA
NEW YORK, December 20, 2005 -- Citibank® and American Express® announce today that they will offer consumers Citibank premium benefits and customer service through cards that are accepted wherever American Express is welcome. Plus, many of the new Citi American Express Cards reward cardmembers for doing what they already do, like making purchases at grocery and drug stores, or putting gas in the car.
So from when we receive the Amex card until the end of Jan
3 points per $1 spent, and this can go to QFF.
I think this is correct from reading the T&C's
Not bad for this Xmas period
